"When the next thing comes out, CD's will be like that middle child."

I overheard the owner of Venus Records telling this to some guy who was selling him a bunch of his CDs and not getting the amount of money he'd hoped for. He followed this statement with, "Vinyl will always be worth something, but CDs are kind of in that iffy range. At least that's my feeling."

I think he's wrong, but his reasoning suits me fine because all the CDs in that store are cheapest in town now.

It seems to me that with CDs and DVDs being the same shape, CDs or CD-compatible formats will be the medium of choice for years to come.

Yea, and what's great about a CD is the ability to make LOSSLESS copies of it.

There's something called MediaMax which is a new CD format that only allows 3 copies or something, not that this will help the industry at all.

What's with Superfudge?

Superfudge became the middle child in the last book in the series (as of when I read it).

The red-headed step child, obviously.

CDs will be around and people will collect them.
I've gone thru the whole vinyl vs cd which is better bullshit.
I prefer cd to vinyl and mp3...sound, portability, size, they last.
People collect because certain titles are hard to find. There are many CDs that are hard to find just like records and fetch a lot of dough. Just think of all the CD-Rs being put out in limited number just like private vinyl pressings. But it will be the same type of people that collect records today that will collect cds in the future.
But mainstream music listeners will move on and make fun of CD collecters.
