Vanilla Ice has no one but himself to blame for tainting the legacy of this classic, classic song.

Korg M-1?
Dud.
No amount of revisionist thinking can alter the context for me.
I bought that shit when it was on Ichiban, and I threw it in the garbage can before SBK dug it out and remarketed it, packaged with Hammer Pants and Ya Kid K.
And I loved Hammer's first couple releases.
Pump It Up (Here's the News) by Hammer deserves the classic status given to Ice in my opin.

The girl on the cover is the girl in the video who licks the ice cream.
Notice she wears no clothing on the top portion of her body, to the delight of all 1990.
The interview speaks a bit about how he went pop and was forced to live up to his management/label forged bio after SBK bought the contract from his manager...however, the albums are virtually identical (sans one or two songs), and the video for Ice Ice Baby was first aired on Yo! MTV Raps under the Ichiban moniker -- meaning the Miami gear and Miami scenes were all directed and financed before SBK got involved.
Same old song.
I will say though that the actual context of his music does shine a bit in that interview. He's a product of the southern rap music scene circa 1985, which doesn't place him too far off.
Too bad it was 1990.

His ripping of of Queen-Bowie was awesome, especially the way he defended himself on VH-1 (something like, "It wasn't totally stolen. It has that extra beat in it if you listen to it.") Didn't he ultimately have to pay Queen-Bowie?
Plus, he nailed Madonna before the Worm or Canseco did.

Just seeing the words "Ice, Ice, Baby" put the song in my head. So, mission accomplished, Mr. Ice.
However, defacing property in the name of the song is a definite classic:

has anyone heard tha Miami Drop remix of this song? its fucking great. basically just a live version thats dragged out for 10 minutes. kind of scary hearing that massive crowd filling in the words that Ice misses.i think i have to sample the bit where he yells: "GO ICE, GO ICE, GO!!""oh yeah, there's some fellas in the house, there's some fellas in the house"
That's from the Extremely Live CD which is totally classic; the best part was that there really were no fellas in the house (at least none above the age of 15), but overall I thought the mix w/ live drummer was really good, no lie. Plus it had "Havin a Roni" on it which isn't even a song
