Is There a Thread Where We Discuss Songs With a Really Earnest Talking Part in Them?

Was listening to Ride's "Deep Inside My Pocket" this morning and was thinking about the part where Andy Bell talks either directly to his girlfriend or the audience and tells them very sullenly that they shouldn't ever try telling him that "it" fits inside his pocket.

Others to add to the list?

"I thought you loved me, but it seems you don't care!"

"I care enough to know that I CAN NEVER LOVE YOU!"

Actually, that was more campy than earnest, but still.

When you look around you wonder
Do you play to win?
Or are you just a bad loser

That awful song on Fabulous Muscles ("Save Our Troops," maybe?) that goes, "Then you joined the army... cuz you're a jock.. and he sat there looking down the hole in his neck where his head used to be.." or whatever. fuck that song. it pretty much ruined that entire album for me.

poortheatre (poortheatre), Monday, 23 May 2005 18:33 (twenty-one years ago)

the first thing that occurs to me is the brief talking part that i cant even decipher in "poledo", from dinosaur jr's 2nd album.

peter smith (plsmith), Monday, 23 May 2005 18:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Agreed on "Support Our Troops" just grinding that album to an exceptionally jolting halt. Besides the fact his logic in that song is as simplistic as the war logic he seems to be arguing against.
