I didn't care for the first album much but I was probably disappointed by all the American Music Club comparisons I'd read but did not hear in the music.

I've got Godmusic and have listened to it twice. I don't really have much of an urge to hear it again, but maybe Black Music is better.

black music has better songs by far, and the production is better and more atmospheric and condusive to his voice. but he doesnt seem to have songs as good as his voice/singing for the most part.

I just found Black Yankee Rock in a stack of discs in a desk drawer in my office. I bought it on a crazy lark. Never listened to more than :30 of the first song. Anyone heard it? Is it good?

"My Mom" is definitely a seek. Occasionally a song will pop up on random and I'll find myself thinking "huh, a Mark Eitzel song I don't remember" before realizing that it's Chocolate Genius.

Another vote for "My Mom." Really enjoy all of that record. "Black Yankee Rock" didn't do it for me so much but I should prob listen to it a few more times, too.
