Annie: The Rapture did the remix for "Me Plus One" and I think that's really, really good. The Rapture is one of my favorite bands so I was really pleased that they did a remix.

The tour is called Anniemix. It's Annie and Timo Kaukolampi, both on turntables and electronics, with live vocals.

Tour Dates...

June 28 New York Hiro Ballroom
June 29 New York Scenic
June 30 Chicago Sonotheque
July 1 San Francisco Mighty
July 2 Los Angeles tbc

LOS ANGELES IS THE WINNER OF BEING A CITY.

That's for sure. The 2nd is the best date for me.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 23 May 2005 22:48 (twenty-one years ago)

If I'm in town I will definitely be going to the 3rd and 5th.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Monday, 23 May 2005 23:01 (twenty-one years ago)

I'd go for the 3rd to but I have to work the 4th! (However this helps with my July vacation so it all balances out.)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 23 May 2005 23:02 (twenty-one years ago)

I've been to two shows at Cinespace and they have both been way too sceney for my blood. I'm curious to see where the TBA venue is - my guess is the Troubador, but I'll be sacrificing chickens until they announce it in the hopes that it's the Echo or Spaceland.

James.Cobo (jamescobo), Monday, 23 May 2005 23:05 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm about to book a room... though i'll be at the standard this weekend too... better start trickin again... : (

firstworldman (firstworldman), Monday, 23 May 2005 23:16 (twenty-one years ago)

actually anyone know how to find out what's going on at the standard on a given weekend?

firstworldman (firstworldman), Monday, 23 May 2005 23:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Deej, I'm there. You? We should hang out, anyway...

deej., Tuesday, 24 May 2005 06:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Scenic is the new club opened by some ex-Knit people I think, where Guernica used to be. I think.

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Tuesday, 24 May 2005 10:54 (twenty-one years ago)

hiro ballroom. wow i get the chance to see annie play at TWO hotels this year!

joseph (joseph), Tuesday, 24 May 2005 16:41 (twenty-one years ago)

I'd be pretty rad to be able to see Annie from a rooftop jacuzzi.

The Sensational Sulk (sexyDancer), Tuesday, 24 May 2005 16:43 (twenty-one years ago)

or a red plastic yurt for that matter:

The Sensational Sulk (sexyDancer), Tuesday, 24 May 2005 16:46 (twenty-one years ago)

unfortunately there's no Jacuzzi, but the pool is heated.

Standard summer plans are still up in the air. WARNING to corny indie types: the Standard show will be full of hipsters and the drinks are overpriced and it can be impossible to get in - so don't hate.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 24 May 2005 16:46 (twenty-one years ago)

hey spencer... even if they are up in the air, do you know a good site for frequent listings of stuff going on there?

firstworldman (firstworldman), Tuesday, 24 May 2005 16:49 (twenty-one years ago)

I always imagined corny indie fuxx and hipsters as having a large intersection. Are they actually mortal enemies?

sleep (sleep), Tuesday, 24 May 2005 16:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, I usually think of "corny" indie types as those who crave "real" and "honest" experiences, and hate the supposed superficiality of Hollywood "hipsters".

Don't know, but it's a very good question.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 24 May 2005 16:56 (twenty-one years ago)

"nerds" vs. "the beautiful people" over $12 cosmos and sliders "fite"

The Sensational Sulk (sexyDancer), Tuesday, 24 May 2005 16:58 (twenty-one years ago)

usually if there's a show at the standard that's worth going to, it is impossible to get in (though sometimes you can rsvp online and that'll work)... i've actually seen them do the whole studio 54 picking assorted hot/hip/fucked up/whatever people from the middle and all strewn about the line. i generally just use it as an excuse to get a room and feel all hollywood for a night.

firstworldman (firstworldman), Tuesday, 24 May 2005 17:00 (twenty-one years ago)

I went to the Standard Downtown once and I still dont know htf I managed to get in.

Incidentally, the Rapture's remix of Manhead is pretty nice. That plus the one for Rinocerose gives me hope that they won't bomb the best song on Anniemal.

BARMS, Tuesday, 24 May 2005 17:21 (twenty-one years ago)

xpost - I read that as "I still don't know if I managed to get in" and I was like, woah, what a night that must have been!

W i l l (common_person), Tuesday, 24 May 2005 18:34 (twenty-one years ago)

ahh... i'm glad you cleared that up because i read it the same way...

what's the rapture mix of manhead from?
i just bought the new manhead full length and it's GREAT.

firstworldman (firstworldman), Tuesday, 24 May 2005 18:38 (twenty-one years ago)

'Aplam' remix single, out now.

BARMS, Tuesday, 24 May 2005 18:40 (twenty-one years ago)

The Standard downtown is a monstrosity by any standards. As someone who loves L.A. a lot, that place always reminds me of that "Onion" headline that says something like "Gay Pride Parade Sets Gay Rights Back 50 Years" and there's a picture of a bunch of leather daddies with assless chaps hanging around.

It's every bad L.A. cliche mushed together into one silicon-smoggish-"Hollywood Hay Fever"-trafficky nightmare of shame and degradation.

no, that's Sky Bar...

firstworldman (firstworldman), Tuesday, 24 May 2005 18:58 (twenty-one years ago)

ok, so the prada pool table is admittedly a little much...

firstworldman (firstworldman), Tuesday, 24 May 2005 18:58 (twenty-one years ago)

one month passes...
Very exciting. Whats the cover like at Sonotheque?

temeraire (r h), Monday, 27 June 2005 16:38 (twenty years ago)

Pete Rock was free. Matthew Dear was 10 bucks. It'll be one or the other i'm sure.

deej.., Monday, 27 June 2005 16:53 (twenty years ago)

four months pass...
This is not very good.
