I heard an amazing Italian language version of The Monkees' 'I'm A Believer' in a club recently... great funky drums... but does anyone know who it's by?
Thanks in advance!

The only Italian cover of "IMB" I know of is by Caterina Caselli from 1967. Was it a female vocal?

No, it was a male group vocal much like the original.... is Caterina's version good, though? Italian pop is something I know very little about...

She was the Petula Clark of '60s Italopop, but nowhere near as good. Her moniker was "Piper Girl."

My favourite version of "IAB" was the Robert Wyatt one, but that's completely undanceable.

I think it could be the I Chiodi (The Nails)'s version: the title was changed in "Accendi una stella" (Light a star)and it was a lot more "beat" oriented than the Caselli's version.
My dad had the 45 but who knows where it can be now?!

My dad has some I Chiodi on his tape collection I think... they also did a Simon and Garunkel cover if its the same band I'm thinking of. A little more British invasion-y than the usual "yeah yeah, fare la whiskey soda" Ital 'n' roll of the 60s.

yes, it's the same band. Not surprisingly, they used to play lots of Anglo-American covers but their approach was a little more aggressive than usual - even so, I Corvi they were not.

Is there a good Italian rock n roll thread on ILM? I'd love to know how to properly go through my father's music collection without stumbling onto any Little Tony/Adriano Celentano/Pooh.

hey Dom, is your father Italian?
just let me know if I can help: I'm not a such a connoisseur, still there are a couple of good things here and there - mostly 60's and 70's stuff, obviously.
ps anyway, Celentano isn't always that bad...

Amazing, cheers chaps

nine years pass...

It's a pity they didn't just let the whole 1966 version play because it does sound terrific...
