S-K.

The Brainwasher (Twilight), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 18:28 (twenty-one years ago)

haha Sleater

miccio (miccio), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 18:28 (twenty-one years ago)

No, YOU common.

David R. (popshots75`), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 18:28 (twenty-one years ago)

S-K

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 18:29 (twenty-one years ago)

I actually had to make this choice yesterday.

I bought Common.

I chose poorly.

Scott CE (Scott CE), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 18:38 (twenty-one years ago)

COMMON Scott!

David R. (popshots75`), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 18:38 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm getting killed.

mcd (mcd), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 18:38 (twenty-one years ago)

ditto

jack cole (jackcole), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 18:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, geez, you guys - COMMON!!!

(OK, I'm done.)

David R. (popshots75`), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 18:40 (twenty-one years ago)

sleater-kinney easy

j blount (papa la bas), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 18:43 (twenty-one years ago)

(Plz read my posts w/ the accent on the 2nd syllable thx.)

David R. (popshots75`), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 18:43 (twenty-one years ago)

aww, com'mon..do i have to?

i still have the new oneida to buy

b b, Wednesday, 25 May 2005 18:44 (twenty-one years ago)

I bought them both yesterday. Had a gun been waved, however, I would have chose S-K.

Not Thaat Chuck, Wednesday, 25 May 2005 18:45 (twenty-one years ago)

I was at the record store yesterday and didn't consider buying either one (and didn't even notice the S-K). I did buy Breakbeat Science Exercise 5 and Meat Beat Man-fiesta, though.

Jordan (Jordan), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 18:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Buncha rockists...Love the new S-K too, but I'm giving Common the slight edge...

Jockey, Wednesday, 25 May 2005 18:50 (twenty-one years ago)

S-K.

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 18:55 (twenty-one years ago)

S-K

Gear! (can Jung shill it, Mu?) (Gear!), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 18:57 (twenty-one years ago)

I like Common just because he and Mia did a Pepsi commercial all about being real and not selling out. You have to have a profound sense of irony to do that.

(oh shit selling out)

__//..>, Wednesday, 25 May 2005 19:10 (twenty-one years ago)

by that logic you should love the video edit of "Entertain"

miccio (miccio), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 19:11 (twenty-one years ago)

MYA MYA MYA MYA

David R. (popshots75`), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 19:15 (twenty-one years ago)

S-K by an almost unquantifiably large margin.

Zack Richardson (teenagequiet), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 19:18 (twenty-one years ago)

16 yr old me: SK
20 yr old me: Common
present-day me: bullet to head

()ops (()()ps), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 19:28 (twenty-one years ago)

OK, actually, I'd like to issue a slight retraction. I was deathly bored by the Common record the first couple of times, but I am listening to it again, and it's growing on me. I wouldn't trade it for S-K just yet.

Scott CE (Scott CE), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 19:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Has he retreated to normal Commonness after the psychedlic trainwreck of the last one?

Jordan (Jordan), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 19:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Electric Scapegoat

Haikunym (Haikunym), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 19:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Oops, you were into S-K in high school???

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 19:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Also, wasn't the Mya/Common thing a Coke commercial?

Scott CE (Scott CE), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 19:48 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm totally against both really but this S-K record sounds like it's so un-S-K that I'd have to go with S-K.

Raymond Cummings (Raymond Cummings), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 19:51 (twenty-one years ago)

sk. who is common?

kyle (akmonday), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 20:00 (twenty-one years ago)

jay, i wasn't *that* into them specifically, but i was aware of them, and that whole style of music was more my thing then. i haven't listened to any indie or whatever you wanna call it since high school. likewise, haven't liked any common since like water for choc.

()ops (()()ps), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 20:06 (twenty-one years ago)

actually i remember hearing/reading, in HS, how great this new band Sleater-Kinney was, then I heard some of their album and didn't get what all the fuss was about, and I haven't listened to that type of music since. so I blame them!

()ops (()()ps), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 20:09 (twenty-one years ago)

i think i heard of s-k in early 1997 (i.e., freshman year of college), when dig me out was released, and i put up a photo of the band on my dorm wall, because i thought they were cute. but i never actually heard them at all until one beat! i don't know if i would've gotten what all the fuss was about circa call the doctor, either. my favorites are the hot rock and all hands on the bad one.

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 20:22 (twenty-one years ago)

I'll take the bullet in the cranium, thanks.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 21:31 (twenty-one years ago)

I was into SK in high school! Bought Dig Me Out after reading about them in SPIN.

miccio (miccio), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 21:46 (twenty-one years ago)

i grab you gun and shoot in you face and you die

Amon (eman), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 22:01 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm with Alex...it's hard to imagine worse albums in their respective genres right now.

paulhw (paulhw), Friday, 27 May 2005 02:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Common. But like many others, the bullet looks tantalizing. I can't imagine myself making the choice to listen to Sleater Kinney over thousands of far more interesting albums though, where as I can see myself playing the Common at least once.

Alan Conceicao (Alan Conceicao), Friday, 27 May 2005 02:26 (twenty-one years ago)

My friends were into Sleater-Kinney when I was in high school. I listened to the "More Than a Feeling" cover.

Sundar (sundar), Friday, 27 May 2005 02:33 (twenty-one years ago)

(I never heard one of their albums until 3rd or 4th year of undergrad though.)

Sundar (sundar), Friday, 27 May 2005 02:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Common. I'm not a big Sleater-Kinney fan, although they are fun to see live.

lyra (lyra), Friday, 27 May 2005 03:05 (twenty-one years ago)

common (though i'm not a big fan).

i would've taken a bullet to the brain in the sleater-kinney v. pavement choice, though.

Eisbär (llamasfur), Friday, 27 May 2005 03:15 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't know much about him, but from what I've heard Common's name aptly describes his music.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 27 May 2005 03:59 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah, i'm going more on utter dislike for sleater-kinney than love for common w/ my choice.

Eisbär (llamasfur), Friday, 27 May 2005 04:02 (twenty-one years ago)

I choose massive head trauma.

John Justen (johnjusten), Friday, 27 May 2005 04:04 (twenty-one years ago)

I like lots of Common songs. This album is sort of a snooze. Whats with all these short + mediocre albums in hip-hop? I'd rather have bloated albums that people say "it could have been a masterpiece" than artists thinking that short tracklist = classic.

deej., Friday, 27 May 2005 04:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Whats with all these short + mediocre albums in hip-hop?

should say "...in hip-hop lately?"

deej., Friday, 27 May 2005 04:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Don't need to buy either; they were sent to me for free. MVE would only give me a fiver for the pair, bastards.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Friday, 27 May 2005 04:45 (twenty-one years ago)

three months pass...
SK

arlee, Wednesday, 31 August 2005 01:18 (twenty years ago)

S-K, but without much pleasure.
