Tough tough choice...I am going with Millions, but I love the production work on Fear of a Black Planet. You'd have to shoot me if i couldnt get both...

I think the popular choice is It Takes A Nation of Millions... (or as a friend of mine used to refer to it -- in all seriousness -- It Take a Nation of Millions to Believe the Hype), but I was more into Fear of a Black Planet...which just seemed like more of a complete work, as opposed to a collection of tracks.

Taking Sides: It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Holds Us Back VS. Fear Of A Black Planet

Nice to see my comments are consistent.

Who is the knucklehead who said Amerikkka's Most Wanted is better than either of these? I love that record too, but com'mon!

Black Planet, but only at gunpoint.

"Black Planet."

Sometimes Fear is too dense. While Nation has just the right amount of space.

Haven't listened to either in ages, still suspect I would like Fear more these days.

This is a good point.

I actually like Apocalypse 91 best, but I suspect I am the only one. But an under-rated album for sure. "Lost at Birth" is one of the best album openers of all time. 2 1/2 minutes of air raid intro before he even starts the first verse.

Nation, hands down, mainly for the hat trick of "Bring The Noise", "She Watch Channel Zero", and "Don't Believe The Hype". Oh, and "Security Of The First World", which is completely bulletproof.

I wasn't that knucklehead then, but I'll be that knucklehead now. Although I think "Death Certificate" is better than all of 'em.

(I love P.E., too, make no mistake, but those first Ice Cube albums have everything I want in a rap album).

(And for this TS, I'll take "Black Planet").
