I think Rilo Kiley are doing the other dates.

Jay Watts III (jaywatts), Thursday, 26 May 2005 19:14 (twenty-one years ago)

That's what happens when you open for the Mountain Goats.

Coldplay begs for ya.

donut debonair (donut), Thursday, 26 May 2005 19:31 (twenty-one years ago)

In that case that great metal band that opened for 'em in LA last needs their break ASAP.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 26 May 2005 19:40 (twenty-one years ago)

I can't find the Nephilim thread, even with the advanced search, so just for the sake of it, I stumbled upon a recent FIELDS OF THE NEPHILIM mp3 blog entry. UGH!

Just incredible.

Thread's right here BTW:

Fields of the Nephilim: Classic or Dud?

Oh shit, I forgot about the "i after e" rule...

Scoopin' like a motherfucker!

Jay Watts III (jaywatts), Thursday, 26 May 2005 21:39 (twenty-one years ago)

i love the trajectory of that tour. "well, in june we'll be opening up for some freaky techno beat-boxer; then in august we open for the BIGGEST FUCKING BAND IN THE WHOLE GODDAM FUCKING UNIVERSE."

ken taylrr (ken taylrr), Thursday, 26 May 2005 21:59 (twenty-one years ago)

"well, in june we'll be opening up for some freaky techno beat-boxer; and then some friendly seattle drone rock dudes when in germany; then in august we open for the BIGGEST FUCKING BORING BAND IN THE WHOLE GODDAM FUCKING UNIVERSE."

donut debonair (donut), Thursday, 26 May 2005 22:08 (twenty-one years ago)

East Troy, Wisconsin will never be the same!

Jay Watts III (jaywatts), Thursday, 26 May 2005 22:08 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm utterly speechless, how on EARTH did this happen??? so insane to me

breezy, Thursday, 26 May 2005 22:09 (twenty-one years ago)

don't say that, or they'll open for Earth in Belgium, too!

donut debonair (donut), Thursday, 26 May 2005 22:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Apparently Coldplay called Black Mountain up, said they really, really liked their album and asked them to tour with them.

Jay Watts III (jaywatts), Thursday, 26 May 2005 22:11 (twenty-one years ago)

What's funny is that Black Mountain are opening for TWO bands whose frontman is named Chris Martin on this tour.

donut debonair (donut), Thursday, 26 May 2005 22:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Maybe there are no two Chris Martins

!!!!!

donut debonair (donut), Thursday, 26 May 2005 22:12 (twenty-one years ago)

well then how did chris martin hear the album....? Still confused...h...o....w....

breezy, Thursday, 26 May 2005 22:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Which Chris Martin?

donut debonair (donut), Thursday, 26 May 2005 22:13 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm happy for everyone involved here.. don't get me wrong. I'm enjoying the weirdness of this tour, that's all. Black Mountain are good folk. Chris Martin and Chris Martin both have good taste. I always knew Chris Martin had good taste, but I had no idea Chris Martin had good taste.

donut debonair (donut), Thursday, 26 May 2005 22:15 (twenty-one years ago)

i couldn't believe it, so I checked the jagjaguwar site and the black mountain site
no mention of it

ken taylrr (ken taylrr), Thursday, 26 May 2005 22:25 (twenty-one years ago)

then click "cached" in the first listing

ken taylrr (ken taylrr), Thursday, 26 May 2005 22:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Black Mountain will be able to eat properly and everything. And they'll get to hang out with Chris Martin (but probably only one Chris Martin).
How much did Jagjaguar pay to buy them on to this tour then? I see they could only afford to get sixteen dates.

snotty moore, Friday, 27 May 2005 00:05 (twenty-one years ago)

i imagine that if jagjaguwar had to buy them onto the tour, there's no way in hell that a little indie like them could afford coldplay's hypothetical pay-to-play policy

ken taylrr (ken taylrr), Friday, 27 May 2005 01:05 (twenty-one years ago)

I always knew Chris Martin had good taste, but I had no idea Chris Martin had good taste.

I seriously can't remember Chris Martin (the famous one) ever publically expressing a like for a band who weren't obvious precedents or antecedents of Coldplay. So... yes. Peculiar.

DJ Mencap0))), Friday, 27 May 2005 08:12 (twenty-one years ago)

is this for real? doesn't seem to be on the jagjagwuar site anymore

Fritz Wollner (Fritz), Friday, 27 May 2005 12:56 (twenty-one years ago)

This news has sent the world into turmoil. JagJaguwar is just scared right now. Or maybe Black Mountain has signed to Epic or something.

Jay Watts III (jaywatts), Friday, 27 May 2005 17:43 (twenty-one years ago)

alright, i'm emailing the label head right now. we need the straight dope!
