Ken L (Ken L), Thursday, 26 May 2005 21:20 (twenty-one years ago)

these dudes are (or have been) all over ILM, so you might want to hold your tongue or bring it up in a different forum

[that bastard] jaxon (jaxon), Thursday, 26 May 2005 21:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Sorry bol I wanted to see what you guys thought about it. Which of those Governmentnames dudes are "all over ILM"?

jawn lennon, Thursday, 26 May 2005 21:28 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm not sure who sean is, but al is a very regular poster and DK used to. LeCoq is an on and offer but has been here for years

could it be?, Thursday, 26 May 2005 22:31 (twenty-one years ago)

As someone who isn't that up on the southern rap scene, I've really enjoyed reading Government Names over the past year....they've got a really quirky, very personal style of writing that is always interesting to me....overall really cool, I think.

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Thursday, 26 May 2005 22:33 (twenty-one years ago)

and the Icy Hot Stuntaz joke is pretty lame IMO....if (in fact) they are all white dudes (I'm not sure they are, don't know 'em), they seem to be writing from a very sincere and thoughtful and interesting perspective I think....I don't think their race would negate the quality of their writing.

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Thursday, 26 May 2005 22:41 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah is the stuntaz pic and the "bol" & "jawn" stuff making fun of gov't names for using too much SLANG?? talk about barking up the wrong tree. jesus.

jones (actual), Thursday, 26 May 2005 22:45 (twenty-one years ago)

I love you all. just got done with school so I'm gonna be putting a lot more work into the site this summer.

as far as I know the only non-w*gger in our midst is Le Coq, who is asian. I don't think we can be fairly accused of much posturing or slang (at least compared to the Dipset-obsessed majority of rap blogs out there) but white rap fans are always gonna catch shit from some people, it's inevitable, so I don't sweat it.

Al (sitcom), Thursday, 26 May 2005 23:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Classic, with reservations. Not about the writing, though.

deej., Thursday, 26 May 2005 23:36 (twenty-one years ago)

I probably shouldn't hint at shit that way. My bad. The blog is great, but dlk and i haven't always gotten a long. I think his writing is terrific though.

deej., Thursday, 26 May 2005 23:37 (twenty-one years ago)

(as is Al's and the rest, obv. Although I'm not sure why Sean Downes has it out for Lil Scrappy.)

deej. wants an edit button, Thursday, 26 May 2005 23:38 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah, there's been drama from time to time, but props to dee and anyone else who doesn't hold it against us.

(xp haha I love his Scrappy bashing!)

Al (sitcom), Thursday, 26 May 2005 23:41 (twenty-one years ago)

I like Scrappy! Although clearly the star of the album is the production, he more than holds his own.

deej., Thursday, 26 May 2005 23:43 (twenty-one years ago)

I just like that Sean pointed out that Scrappy seems to be trying to sound like Pac, which probably would've never occurred to me otherwise but in retrospect is kinda obvious.

TS: Government Names vs Gelandweave

More beef! More beef!

Jacob (Jacob), Thursday, 26 May 2005 23:49 (twenty-one years ago)

haha I wrote an incredibly stupid corny joke post about beef w/ G&W way back thinking something as ridiculous as 'blog beef' would never actually happen. how wrong I was!

Al (sitcom), Thursday, 26 May 2005 23:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Haha I sort of feel like so many (good) rappers do that! Master P for instance. Although he's trying to imitate scarface sometimes too I think. But I like him a lot!

deej., Thursday, 26 May 2005 23:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Er thats an xpost, I think many good rappers try to sound like pac. I don't think Master P tries to start Blog Beef.

deej., Thursday, 26 May 2005 23:56 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't think Master P tries to start Blog Beef.

now THAT would be awesome.

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Friday, 27 May 2005 00:03 (twenty-one years ago)

is thetank.blogspot.com taken?

Al (sitcom), Friday, 27 May 2005 00:04 (twenty-one years ago)

man, hold up... how are you even trying to suggest we're some bol/jawn guys? that bugs me.

DIP-SET DIP-SET DIP-SET

DYLANK, Saturday, 28 May 2005 20:27 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't know if "jawn lennon" was trying to say that's how we talk, that might just be how he talks. as far as I can tell the only one who pointed a finger in that way was whoever posted the 'icy hot stuntaz' pic.

Al (sitcom), Sunday, 29 May 2005 00:54 (twenty-one years ago)

oh... sorry, jawn lennon.

DYLANK, Sunday, 29 May 2005 01:42 (twenty-one years ago)

you guys would be yay more classic if yousendits were replaced with mp3s but hey, classic all the same.

miccio (miccio), Sunday, 29 May 2005 01:52 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah...i'm looking into getting a server/domain and stuff soon. but i'm still wary of hosting mp3's in a more permanent way. it's a fine line before you just become a free music factory for moochers. it sucks that yousendit's expire so quickly but it does kinda reward regular readers.

Al (sitcom), Sunday, 29 May 2005 02:03 (twenty-one years ago)

well its all a matter of degrees moochwise, and its totally your call. Its just less rigmarole for me. Requires less faith on my part to check a song out. But hey, fuck a doubter.
