Andre Kraml - Safari (Kiki & Silversurfer Mix)!!

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Friday, 27 May 2005 05:32 (twenty-one years ago)

I actually prefer Villalobos remixes to his original work (peak to peak there is equal love, but on average his remixes win due to greater sonic variation).

You should track down Hell's "Listen To The Hiss (Villalobos Screen Kiss remix)", & Lopazz's "Migracion (Villalobos 11.09.73 remix)".

cool... also, are there any mixes (esp downloadable ones) that fit my brief?

toby (tsg20), Friday, 27 May 2005 11:58 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm loving that mathew jonson & the mole track. it's mysterious! something very pole-like about the dreamy breakdown bits.

andrew m. (andrewmorgan), Friday, 27 May 2005 14:57 (twenty-one years ago)

kind of old, but you should check the villalobos remix of the horrorist's "one night in nyc", it's heavy.

also, villalobos' set at VOLTT 12-2-2005 is pure ketamine house and is all over slsk.

god i feel lame saying this, but listening to the jonson&themole track while tripping balls on mushrooms, which i had the pleasure of doing recently, was, um, revelatory. especially when "the mole" arrives on the scene. intense. of course most everything was that night!

the whole 'the au harem...' album happened through villalobos trying to work out his remix for klf's 'what time is love'! i posted about it on my blog a few months ago, but here it is again--villalobos explaining his album to the German magazine Spex:

Villalobos: "I got this offer by The KLF to do a remix and I picked What Time Is Love. But whenever I tried to integrate the melody I was stuck. So I recorded it just for me, in a 20-minute session, without arrangement. It went on for a year like this, I tried and tried to get this remix done. And then I had it and my hard disk crashed. I was desperate but then I thought: I still have the DATs with ten tracks on them, a unified whole. All these tracks that belong together, Villalobos-music with KLF taken out of it. That's how this record was created."

geeta, Tuesday, 14 June 2005 19:45 (twenty-one years ago)

wow, that's a great story. the album does sound really unified, but it's interesting to know that it was basically a jam session for a "what time is love?" remix.

wasn't the final remix just released?

tricky (disco stu), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 20:28 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah, i saw that geeta, but i always assumed it was a joke until i realised he had actually done a "what time is love" remix...

one month passes...
Has anyone heard the new 12'' titled "Chromosoul." I saw it mentioned on Boomkat.

T. Weiss (Timmy), Sunday, 17 July 2005 19:24 (twenty years ago)

Yes. It's not bad.

Adam In Real Life (nordicskilla), Sunday, 17 July 2005 19:45 (twenty years ago)

It's "Chromosul", I think.

Adam In Real Life (nordicskilla), Sunday, 17 July 2005 19:54 (twenty years ago)

ahh yes, you're right.

T. Weiss (Timmy), Sunday, 17 July 2005 19:57 (twenty years ago)

i love it, predictably enough.

toby (tsg20), Sunday, 17 July 2005 19:59 (twenty years ago)

That Tobi Neumann mix appears to be very much in the vein of this sort of stuff (haven't bought it yet but plan to).

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Sunday, 17 July 2005 23:05 (twenty years ago)

I listened to a bit of that record yesterday. It was good.

On the subject. Are any of the new Spiecher records that sound like the quieried style of music absolutely worth buying. I've listened to a few to no success.

they're new to me, anyway, and they're great...

toby (tsg20), Tuesday, 1 November 2005 19:07 (twenty years ago)

the cadenza EP isn't even out yet, so yeah, that new.

'Sieso' is so great! it sounds like the Black Dog.

F.R.I.E.N.D. (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 1 November 2005 22:21 (twenty years ago)

I love villalobos too... dude looks like a camel!!!

c7n (Cozen), Tuesday, 1 November 2005 22:31 (twenty years ago)

I think that's by Aerosmith?

F.R.I.E.N.D. (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 1 November 2005 22:39 (twenty years ago)

his music is the meaning of those dreams spent spitting out dry, crumbling teeth

c7n (Cozen), Tuesday, 1 November 2005 22:41 (twenty years ago)

i thought those were sexual anxiety dreams.
