with a red sox-yankees series on the horizon, now seems the right time to point out the greatest song ever written about new york city has recently been released by boston hardcore vets slapshot, about whom i know pretty much nothing. i do know, as a boston-bred red sox fan who has long called new york home, that "fuck new york" works equally well no matter which side of the divide you stand on. at least i'm pretty sure it does. sample verses:

Fuck the Yankees
Fuck the Mets
Fuck the Jets - Fuck New York!

Fuck Giuliani
Fuck Woody Allen
Fuck CBGB's - Fuck New York!

Fuck Central Park
Fuck the port authority
Fuck Grand Central - Fuck New York!

Fuck Soho
Fuck Wall Street
Fuck Battery Park - Fuck New York!

Fuck Staten Island
Fuck Queens
Fuck the Bronx Zoo
Go fuck Brooklyn
And while we're at it, fuck Long Island too!

Of course, let's remember they're from BOSTON which is the worst *major* city in America.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 27 May 2005 19:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Providence is not a "major city" and it fucking destroys Boston.

Cool Hand Luuke (ex machina), Friday, 27 May 2005 19:27 (twenty-one years ago)

I would have gotten to the "Fuck Long Island" bit slightly more speedily; save the zoo for the post script.

now now, Friday, 27 May 2005 19:36 (twenty-one years ago)

This is my favorite song of the year, and I haven't heard it yet.
I tried to download some Slapshot and I got "Fucking Machine Took My Quarter," spoken by the Hanson brothers in the movie Slapshot. Ha!

Jazzbo (jmcgaw), Friday, 27 May 2005 19:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Don't forget abotu "Fuck New York" by Rodney O and Joe Cooley!

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Friday, 27 May 2005 19:48 (twenty-one years ago)

And here the whole time I thought Fuck New York was by Rodney O-Joe Cooley.
Who knew?!

that's what i said! is it a hyphen instead of "and" or something? If so, my apologies, sir. I stand corrected.

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Friday, 27 May 2005 21:12 (twenty-one years ago)

ah shit M@TT, you beat me too it.

(and apparantly, my ctrl+F must've included a mispelling of "rodney")

PappaWheelie (PappaWheelie), Friday, 27 May 2005 21:37 (twenty-one years ago)

ah okay, sorry, I thought you were correcting me about the hyphen! haha...

That song was retort to Tim Dog's Fuck Compton right?

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Friday, 27 May 2005 21:40 (twenty-one years ago)

there was that grime version of Ja Rule's "New York New York" called "Fuck New York," where the dissing begins with "The pound is stronger than the dolla!"

deej., Friday, 27 May 2005 23:50 (twenty-one years ago)

haha that's awesome - EXCHANGE RATE IN YR FACE!

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Saturday, 28 May 2005 00:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Slapshot were just a bunch of hockey dorks.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 28 May 2005 01:14 (twenty-one years ago)

No, NYC is gay.

Harvey Pinklestein, Saturday, 28 May 2005 02:47 (twenty-one years ago)

ah okay, sorry, I thought you were correcting me about the hyphen!

Nah, although, they were very strict about the use of the hyphen to represent General Jeff (wtf?!)

That song was retort to Tim Dog's Fuck Compton right?

That's the way I understand it.

Amon (eman), Saturday, 28 May 2005 03:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Boston's obviously got a serious inferiority complex. And, in retrospect,....WITH GOOD REASON.

"teaser"

Amon (eman), Saturday, 28 May 2005 03:45 (twenty-one years ago)

That was the most untantalizing tease ever.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 28 May 2005 03:50 (twenty-one years ago)

I hate Boston hardcore kids so much. Its pretty sad that Providence is capable of competing with Boston!

Precisely. They talk about it as if they were going in to record something like Trout Mask Replica or something. IT'S JUST MORE WORKADAY YAWNCORE BY A BUNCH OF MEATNECKED, DATERAPE JOCKS!

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 28 May 2005 18:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Geez, Alex. A tad defensive about Boston, eh? I mean, c'mon, at least you still have the World Series champions. Oh wait...

Jim M (jmcgaw), Sunday, 29 May 2005 18:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Boston sucks and I love the Red Sox.

Cool Hand Luuke (ex machina), Sunday, 29 May 2005 19:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Hmm....Boston...don't know much about it...but...Aerosmith, Pixies, and Mission of Burma are from Boston, who all could give any NYC band ever a run for their money.

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Monday, 30 May 2005 13:38 (twenty-one years ago)

six months pass...
The only thing Boston had going for it was Kenmore Square. And
they shitcanned that neighborhood years ago.

And Steven Tyler's from...New York. Frank Black is from California,
and Kim Deal's from Ohio. So once again, Fuck Boston. Even Providence
makes you fags look lame. Drunken fucks.

Zach, Wednesday, 28 December 2005 22:27 (twenty years ago)

are the members of boston from boston? (tom scholz's MIT education notwitstanding?)
