can anyone else sing beach boy's "don't worry" to the chorus of this uk number 1 song , and there's something in it that reminds of the bay city roller's " give a little love" ?

Noticed the Beach Boys steal. Only just realised the Rollers influence. Good stuff. If only more 'boy' bands had good record collections.

one year passes...
The new single is terrific! First McFly I've really liked.

i can appreciate its ridiculousness but it's a bit too much like queen for comfort

It's more like ELO or 10cc I think - it's less rock.

Can people stop being like ELO or 10cc and start being more like Berni Flint or Principal Edwards Magic Theatre kthnxbye

It might be like those too! Anyway it's very charming, which matters a lot more than its influences.

I keep trying to like it but it's just not working. :(

It's a cover of a Jellyfish song from their first album Bellybutton.

cheasyweasel, Monday, 30 April 2007 15:13 (nineteen years ago)

Oh yeah, Jellyfish.

Cue Geir.

Mark G, Monday, 30 April 2007 15:15 (nineteen years ago)

What, I wonder, does ILM's resident Jellyfish guru Geir "Guru" Hongro make of this Autotune-aided reinterpretation?

Marcello Carlin, Monday, 30 April 2007 15:15 (nineteen years ago)

Is it "The King is Half Undressed" or something?

Ned Raggett, Monday, 30 April 2007 15:15 (nineteen years ago)

Seriously? Hahahaha. Oh dear :(

Groke, Monday, 30 April 2007 15:15 (nineteen years ago)

Oh hold on, the double A side is the Jellyfish cover. "Transylvania" was the one I liked. Is that a cover too?

(I wrote this very morning a Stylus singles review of it in which I basically said "This lot would get love if they were power pop dorks like Jellyfish" so I was feeling both vindicated and hugely foolish.)
