moreover, are they 2005's answer to the wrens?

moreover, aren't they just a little bit crap?

What does Wilco and Wrens have in common?

No good band would call themselves Fembot btw.

Wrens sound nothing like Wilco.

Marc-, Sunday, 29 May 2005 02:49 (twenty-one years ago)

that's not the point

I saw them live at a showcase about four years ago. Their set was heavy on samples and abstract noise/atmospherics, and I enjoyed it a lot. It took them a while to record a proper debut album, and unfortunately, by they did, their records no longer sounded like that

Although I obviously need to wait until I hear them to really pass judgement...any band named after something in Austin Powers kind of doesn't raise my hopes.

Wait, when were we not allowed to like Wilco anymore?

Must have missed that memo. ;-)

i saw them about 4 or 5 years ago too. they were all right (and they had this great song sung by a teddy ruxpin) but pretty bad stage presence. also i couldn't think of a worse name for a band.

s1ocki (slutsky), Sunday, 29 May 2005 14:15 (twenty-one years ago)

it's like naming a band "shagadelic, baby!"

Fembots predates Austin Powers. Give them the benefit of the doubt that it's a Bionic Woman reference.

regardless.

Super yawn. "No Depression" fawning snooze fest.
