Burning Man: would anybody go for the music?

I went to the thing. To me, it's like an outmoded rave in the dessert. (Lot's of day-glo cosmic imagery w/ a roadwarrior twist, and nonstop super-repetetive techno: "unst" ...just imagine the Zion scenes in the Matrix sequel, but with all white people). I kept looking and listening for any camps that offered less cliched sounds. I did not find it. Yet, the playa-people insist there's a real variety of music there, with some great live acts too. Could this possibly be true?
