Do people just not know this song or something?

Is it too smooth, too sentimental sounding?

It's great; what's your problem?

Stevie's original is better - and yes, GREAT !

one of the best stevie wonder songs made by another artist, evah.

It should be much better known. I'd probably put it in my top 5 Aretha tracks and definitely top 10. Chuck Rainey's bass playing on that record is staggering.

Her best song. Hands down.

I'm not even a huge fan, but it's one of my favorite Aretha Franklin songs. I don't think I've ever heard Stevie Wonder's own version of it. (Anyway, I guess the 70s poll brought this on for me.)

Exquisite.

What album's it on, if it's on one?

A Viking of Some Note (Andrew Thames), Monday, 30 May 2005 11:12 (twenty-one years ago)

seven years pass...

Was wondering if there was a thread for this, and apparently I started one. I heard this yesterday in Whole Foods, an atmosphere that usually destroys my appreciation of any music, and it took me to another place. I think it's a bit under-appreciated. Not obscure, but just a little neglected.

(Actually triggered by dusting my CDs off just now.)

A perfect song, performance, production.

sublime song. also i love old R&B songs with a long title AND a long parenthetical (AND the title still doesn't tell you what she's actually gonna do, you have to listen to the song to find out)

some dude, Monday, 31 December 2012 23:17 (thirteen years ago)

yeah, a perfect song. better than the original even.
