i have this comp cd circa 1993 called "Best of the Blues: Hooker Hopkins Reed" (Classic7562) as distributed by Classic Sound, Inc. the four Lightnin' Hopkins songs on here, Shaggy Dog, Shake It Baby, Shining Moon, and Good Times, include Lighnin' on guitar, backed by a full band (drums, bass, and even a trombone on Shaggy Dog). all of these songs are Lightnin' originals and sound like they were recorded during the same era, if not the same session. i have found some later compilations with versions of a couple of the songs on here, but i have been searching for years for the origin of these songs, in particular this version of Shaggy Dog. it is very difficult to track down much of Lighnin' Hopkins' material, as he has literally hundreds of releases, many of them full length albums, and most of it is out of print. the information on this comp i have is extremely limited- it doesn't even list any of the three bluesman's first names! any info or ideas (i might mail classic sound if they still exist) please post here or email me. til then i'm still diggin! thanks
