1996-ish song ID

Heard this repeatedly on WFNX (Boston alt-radio) in 1996-97. Had a near-shoegaze quality to it, though that might be pushing things. Mid-tempo, slightly breathy male vocal. The pre-chorus featured a brief chord change wherein there was a "oh-oh-oooohh" vocal bit. The only other line I can recall is from the chorus, something about "a bottle of wine," and perhaps "waiting for her."
