Puffin, I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that.

"Boulevard" is the rosetta stone of trad rock bullshit

miccio (miccio), Tuesday, 31 May 2005 18:13 (twenty-one years ago)

vs. the Verve, "I'll take you down the only road I've ever been down." -- though to be fair, the Verve are inviting a companion down said road, while Green Day and Whitesnake are, as emphasized in their lyrics, going down the only known road on their own.

All the roads we have to walk are winding. Who knew?

Tantrum The Cat (Tantrum The Cat), Tuesday, 31 May 2005 20:36 (twenty-one years ago)

My girlfriend keeps thinking the next line is "like a twister I was born to walk alone." It doesn't really make a difference when you're singing it in the shower together.

Eppy (Eppy), Tuesday, 31 May 2005 20:40 (twenty-one years ago)

I've heard that everyday is a winding road.

The Sensational Sulk (sexyDancer), Tuesday, 31 May 2005 20:44 (twenty-one years ago)

The road is fuckin' hard
The road is fuckin' tough
There's no questions that
It is rough rough stuff
It's the fuckin' road my friend
But it's the only road I know...

You know, in the original version of the song, it wasn't "like a drifter" or "like a twister," but "like a hobo." Seriously. I can provide mp3 evidence if necessary. It makes the chorus, if not better, at least funnier.

knife a hobo/i was born to walk alone

I didn't really think, when I woke up this morning, that at any time during the day I'd be prompted to think of Eppy and his girl showering together doing Whitesnake karaoke. ILM is wonderous place.

...and life is a highway

The Whitesnake song is certainly catchier.

Anthony Lombardi (CCPO), Wednesday, 1 June 2005 02:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Most cliched opening line of all time: "I don't know where I'm going, but I sure know where I've been."

Mr. Snrub (Mr. Snrub), Wednesday, 1 June 2005 02:14 (twenty-one years ago)

but its so true

latebloomer: Pain Don't Hurt (latebloomer), Wednesday, 1 June 2005 02:47 (twenty-one years ago)

The Green Day song is not redeemed by David Coverdale screaming "Here I GAAAAAAAAOOOOOWWW!", and Green Day ought to know better, so Whitesnake win. Easily.

Deluxe (Damian), Wednesday, 1 June 2005 09:11 (twenty-one years ago)

number of summers in which the whitesnake song was my favorite: 1.
green day's: 0.

I always used to hear "How many special people does/ It take to change a lightbulb...'

rwillmsen (rwillmsen), Wednesday, 1 June 2005 09:21 (twenty-one years ago)

I had a friend in high school who sang it as "like a prisoner I was born to walk alone."

The Mad Puffin, Wednesday, 1 June 2005 12:08 (twenty-one years ago)

I've heard that everyday is a winding road.
I thought everyday was a squirming toad! You know, "Another turning point, a fork stuck in a toad..."

The wild and windy night/that the rain washed away/has left a pool of tears/crying for the day.

I blame it all on Sir Paul.
