I've always had a soft spot for them without being a big fan, but seeing them live three years ago converted me, and I think the new indie album is pretty great. I recently wrote about 'em, and they have a new web site with music.

They've been playing spot dates, but I don't see the album getting reviewed anywhere. Are there fans/haters at ILM?

I really liked "Pretty Brown Eyes" when it was a hit in early '92 (I think I requested it at my 8th grade graduation dance!), but I've barely thought of them since!

that City pages story was cool.

"Breakin' My Heart" still does mine, and "Pain or Pleasure" was excruciatingly overlooked.

I love the tracks on the new album with steel drums. I'm not sure why only the first few tracks have them though....

Thanks, Matt. It still reads rough to me, but sometimes you just gotta hit the page...

How weird is the title track?

i like old stuff like you send me swinging but the lyrics on this new album seemed totally inane and ABC-like (as in the alphabet not the 80s pop group). they seemed pretty stupid, actually. and the melodies are more cloying than raphael saddiqs.

I love Raphael Siddiq, too, so there you go...

five years pass...

Predictably I liked the last album a lot too, despite its title--discussed over yonder:
Mint Condition

And here's the repaired link to that article above:

Anyone hear or like the new one?

Okay, predictably loving this one too, though it takes a while to take...
