How come nobody ever told me "Love It To Death" was such a great album?

I always kinda wrote Alice Cooper (the band) off as some sort of watering down of the Stooges/MC5 sound into some kinda commercially acceptable blah - barring "Under My Wheels," which I've always dug, but prompted by a Beat Club performance of "Eighteen" I caught on the tube a little while ago (wherein Alice interpolated snatches of "American Pie" into the extended instro-freakout) I put this on...

AND IT RULES. Rules rules rules. Yep, it sure is a watering down of the Stooges/MC5 sound, but accomplishes this in the best way possible by adding really friggin catchy hooks and a very enteraining sense of humor. I can't think of a bum track the whole way through.

O-pinions? They do anything else as good as this?

'Killer' is pretty good, as are 'School's Out' and 'Billion Dollar Babies.' The humungo jam is actually 'Greatest Hits,' though.

"Black Juju" sounded an awful lot like Pink Floyd's "Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun". They obviously had a 'thing' for Floyd, considering how "BB On Mars" from Pretties For You starts out EXACTLY like "Take Up Thy Stethoscope And Walk".

Could have told you. Athough "Billion Dollar Babies" and "Welcome To My Nightmare" are his best two albums.

Strange...I've never been able to appreciate Babies as much folks - mostly because the first & last songs are so gawdawful. (Worst-ever AC songs up to that point, actually.)

The other songs are just fine.

Billion Dollar Babies completely kicks ass, but I have to confess that my fave Coop album remaiins.....wait for it....Flush the Fashion.

Rhino needs to remaster and reissue the classic Cooper albums.

And duplicate the special packaging!

Teeny-tiny underpants on the School's Out disc might be a little disconcerting.

Love It To Death may be the most consistent of the band albums, bar Greatest Hits, but they're all pretty strong. Most of the solo albums have moments of greatness, too, even Flush.
