Every Morning is a pretty annoying tune. When It's Over slightly less annoying. Fly wins.

I wish "RPM" wasn't shit so I could argue each album's second single was just as worthwhile. Of the three in question I'd go with "When It's Over," but they're all terrific.

I'd say 'Fly' but the scratching irritates the hell out of me...'When It's Over' is nice but a little slow... I say 'Every Morning' without a doubt.

Is it wrong for me to like their 'Abracadabra' cover, since we're talking about RPM?

"When It's Over" sounds like the midpoint between the two, actually. You'll probably remember it as the one that got the phrase "gone out the WINdow" stuck in your head.

I prefer "Every Morning" if only because of the "Suavecito" hijacking.

Also, (x-post) there is some lame scratching in each of these songs. At least it's subtle and easy to ignore.

Every Morning is king. At one job I was forced to listen to the type of station that plays stuff like that even after the 1000th time it was one of the least objectionable songs(along with Norah Jones' "Don't Know Why" which was the ULTIMATE oasis around the same time iirc). 'When it's Over' is fine, 'Fly' I don't need to ever hear again but no hard feelings really.

Was "When It's Over" a big hit? I seem to have never heard it, whereas the other two wore out their welcomes years ago. I suppose I should really listen to it before making a decision - I may find it less irritating than those two earlier hits. But if not, well, I'll give it to "Fly", only because that little descending guitar part reminds me of "Whatta Man". Plus it's a teeny bit more forceful rhythmically than "Every Morning".

I don't remember "When It's Over" either, but I'd have to choose "Fly" over "Every Morning" because I never hear the former anymore and the latter (which I still can't escape) always annoyed the fuck out of me.

I always found the line, "When it's over... can I still come over?" surprisingly affecting. I'll go with "When It's Over."

"Answer the Phone" kicks all kinds of ass, though.

You all seem to be forgetting the band's first album, Lemonade & Brownies, which sounds like an entirely different band.

From that album, I'd take "Big Black Woman," but from the singles cited in the thread, I'd go with "When It's Over," which is simply a great pop song. "Fly" irritates the hell out of me (it's that out of tune guitar riff),....plus the fact that Mark McGrath admitted that the first line of the song ("All around the world statues crumble for me...") was a paraphrasing of the first line of "Sanity" by Killing Joke ("All across the scenes the Statues Crumble...")
