low overall volume + lack of carl/neko stage banter = not classic.

the fake neko they're touring with sounded eerily like neko, though.

Aaaah. Got it. The show was nice, but not overwhelming. A couple of truly classic moments tho; including a nice cover of Davies' "There's Nothing In This World To Stop Me Worryin' About That Girl" and some great rockist guitar posing antics and a solo acoustic version of "Inside and Out".

She apparently recorded it for a Brit radio station when she was touring Europe; it was quite sweet. The audience was totally silent.

That was my fifth time seeing the band, and it was not classic. It was a good show, and Kathryn Calder did a decent job filling in for Neko, but the sound was weak and they just were not even close to the top of their game.

Nice setlist, though.

Also live mere blocks away at 12th/7th Ave. Only the most promising lineup all summer and I had to be in DC for a surprise bday party. Urgh.

Okay, I see here that it might not have been stellar, but when you factor Stars opening, and the fact that it was in Prospect Park and FREE ... NOW how do you rate it? Was it crowded?

Also, more details on the setlist? Mass Romantic? Holy Wars? Divine Right?

They had to rush at the end, they were told they were running out of time, so some songs that were probably scheduled for the encore (like traditional show-closer "Centre for Holy Wars") had to be cut so that they could fit in the two big hits at the end so people went home happy.

five years pass...

REVIVE because I saw them last night. They've still got it. Slayed a crowd of ~1000. Bejar, Case, Newman, Calder all present and hollering. Less "Together"-heavy set than I might have thought -- these guys seem to enjoy playing the greatest hits set. (Though at this point it's not clear to me what the consensus "greatest hits" are -- "Spanish Techno" and "Twin Cinema" seemed to generate more crowd frenzy than "Alcoholism" and "Letter From An Occupant" did not appear.)
