10. Joey wanted to cover Sparks' "Nothing To Do", but he couldn't convice the other Ramones. The Sparks album on which the song appears, 'Big Beat' was recorded in Los Angeles with a group of session men, including bassist Sal Maida, formerly with Milk 'n' Cookies. Maybe knowing that could have changed Johnny's mind.

if johnny was as huge a conservative as he's made out to be, how did he like the lyrics to "howling at the moon"--"I wanna steal from the rich and give to the poor?"

the dark wee hour, Friday, 13 January 2006 01:38 (twenty years ago)

He probably didn't like them. He didn't like a lot of Joey's lyrics - Bonzo Goes To Bitburg, etc.

Johnny "made out" to be a conservative, he declared it himself plenty of times.

Colonel Poo (Colonel Poo), Friday, 13 January 2006 08:13 (twenty years ago)

Johnny didn't PLAY on "Bonzo" in protest, correct?

8. Yankee fans raised in Queens.

(also, whoever figures out the criteria for Noiseboard threads being locked, yell bingo)

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Friday, 28 April 2006 13:17 (twenty years ago)

46. Dee Dee wrote "Howling at the Moon" and "Bonzo Goes to Bitburg." Not particularly silly, just setting the record straight re: upthread remarks on "Joey's lyrics."

22. Dee Dee's rap record? Obvious, but very, very silly.
