Any vocalists that scream a lot around here?

I'm in a band where I scream a lot (not a hardcore band, but more of a Frank Black/Kurt Cobain kind of thing). Ever since I've started, I've noticed that I can do absolutely NO falsetto anymore. I can't even get a sound out...if I try to do falsetto all I hear is a bunch of hissing. Has this happened to anyone else? Will it ever come back?

You are screaming wrong.

I don't know if that comment was supposed to be in a mocking tone, but I'm 17 if it has any relation to my question.

You should probably go see a doctor to find out if you've strained or damaged anything.

I didn't mean it as mocking at all. There's this puberty thing in those of the XY chromosome makeup, and it kicks in anywhere between 13 and 20 in different parts of the body, depending on the person. 17 sounds early enough that maybe you're just naturally developing a deeper voice now. If something HURTS, then you might want to see a doctor.

I am 17 and my falsetto has gone to shit in the past 2 years. Keep practicing, though; it'll strengthen your normal range as well.

"Keep practicing, though; it'll strengthen your normal range as well."

I've noticed a huge change in this. I can now hit the high notes in Big Star's "In the Street" and when I started a couple years ago, I couldn't even hit the notes in The Doors' "Love Street". That will mean nothing for those of you not familiar with the songs, but for those of you that are...

I was just afraid I'm going to permanently damage something in my body by doing this.

You may well have damaged your voice Christian, get it checked out asap. Also you may find this excellent book, 'Pro Secrets of Heavy Rock Singing' by Bill Martin to be of interest:
