It's an amazing soundtrack. From the ex-lead singer of Pop Will Eat Itself, too - who'd've thunk it?

The sorta-famous main theme, the one that ended up re-recorded by a full orchestra for the Two Towers trailer, is "Summer Overture."

was there a point to this message?

The remix album is interesting - the Jagz Kooner track is especially intense.

the PI soundtrack, I reckon is better.

the RFD soundtrack just makes me think of the movie...

which is incredibly black.

I'm chilling with my friend Josh and he lives in an apt. in chicago with another one of our friends, j. hill. So jhill has a girl over and i'm crashing on the living room couch and josh is halfway asleep in his room and i'm being lulled to sleep by the dulcet soundtrack of coldplay (josh's room) + a random mix of weird music (jhill's room) and this song comes on and suddenly I hear the not-so-dulcet sounds of jhill's lady friend reaching climax to the soundtrack of the requiem for a dream, in some sort of weirdo creepy mating ritual. The end.

I think the song you're looking for is called "Lux Aeterna." It's the main theme.

Whoops. Didn't see that. They're the same thing, though, I think.

I haven't listened to it for a while, but IIRC "Summer Overture" is the version used in the opening and "Lux Aeterna" is the much sparser, darker version at the end of the film.

Telephonething (Telephonething), Saturday, 30 July 2005 23:41 (twenty years ago)

Its called Winters Overture

The song is titled Lux Aeterna by Gyorgio Ligeti, played by the Kronos. Paul Oakenfold made a techno version which sounds more like the theme in Requiem called Aeterna. Lil Jon also made a song which derives its beat from the original song, titled Throw It Up

this tune is like the new o fortuna! it's in tons of movie trailers, there were some chinese (?not sure about this) people who used it as their couples ice skating theme in some kind of ice skating championship and then - today - i heard it being used in some lebanese protest dance to celebrate independence from syria or something.

in sum, this tune is everywhere. who could have predicted that?
