C/D: Extra Action Marching Band

Playing a free NYC show in the East River this weekend... "a hypnotic drum corps, a heady horn section, and a provocative, uplifting flag squadron that dazzles crowds with their dizzying dances." Who's seen them in action? Sounds either awesome or annoyingly precious (albeit with compensating skin exposure):

That looks like a pretty wack brass band.

I've seen them more times than I can count, they are all over the place in SF (anti-war protests, "opening" for David Byrne, playing the entirety of "Masters of Reality" w/Extreme Elvis, etc.). they're pretty entertaining. they do a good version of "War Pigs".

it's a pretty fucking motley crew. SF irony fucking to the extreme (barf).

i've never actually gone out to see them. those pix were from the anti war protests where i actually ended up getting arrested.

hella funny coincidence, while i was typing this, my itunes on random played the Youngblood Brass Band from Jordan's cd.

(fwiw I've never made any effort to see them either - they just kinda show up at stuff)

Thanks all. Jax, I was hoping they were irony-fucking (w the hyphen).

Maybe it was cuz they only played for 25 minutes at the end of a pleasant afternoon, but they were 'cute.' Cheerleaders in Daisy Dukes and a flag-waving man-majorette with a nice package straining at his Lycra briefs.

Apparently they were thrown out of a Brooklyn venue (Galapagos?), along with a chunk of the audience, after their show the other night for having a dressing-room dance party.
