Proof that it was an intentional concept/gimmick from the beginning, imo. It took time, but he had that. I think he realized he didn't have the confidence or talent to just start playing that stuff live, but if he could build this mysterious persona, using the qualities he did have, eventually there might be an audience of people ready for him.

Occam's Razor = simplest explanation, he released the material deliberately in this manor to develop a cult following. Outsider art becomes appreciated for what it is. Jandek gets accepted on his own terms.

Then, probably after seeing "Jandek On Corwood," he did - he thought about things in ways he hadn't before.

He probably thought all he'd do was the interview he did a few years back... the one in which he acted like a nervous, self-conscious freak who would be terrified to play on stage without lots of reassurance about his art. The internet, the article, the movie all gave him that. Of course, his first shows had to be completely unannounced because he's terrified.
