gabriel ananda: opinions please!

listening to the Schaukeldrehen ep today, it sruck me that I really like gabriel anandas productions, but he doesnt seem to get much mention on here. i think that ep displays his range, from the uber minimal funk of the a side (which is prob my favourite trapez tune), to the b sides which display a techier, and a warmer side.

his album was really good as well, definately cold, minimal and really techy stuff, which is suppose is some peoples idea of hell but i think its great. hes got a keen ear for a groove and when he gets swooshy and slightly trancey its not too unctious, as i think someone like oliver hacke can be a bit, maybe cos anadas trance tendency is still cold and metallic. which for me is grebt!!!!!!111

what else do you recommend? i guess hes the sort of person who at on stroke could be dismissed as fairly MOR german stuff, and at another listen, sound really really good.

any other fans?

ps this is another installment in my plan to get a seperate thread on every single house producer that i like!

i cant comment much. im not a fan of his releases, and the one time i saw him play (live not dj) was only notable for the looong buildups, which got annoying about halfway through

however, if you want to listen to ananda 24/7, you can

oo i was well into schaukeldrehen once upon a time! until it found its way onto that rough trade compilation and i tht maybe i just had corny taste in haus. i checked for his other stuff (well the blue trapez 12) but it wsnt nearly as good i recall.

also the trapez ltd edition with the hacke/jeremy caulfield collabo i liked for similar reasons as schaukeldrehen

i'm a fan. i like his detroit-y and big rave tunes. "sussholz" on treibstoff is a huge example of the latter and the "quarta" twelve inch on trapez is an example of the former. i checked his album out, but it didn't really grab me.

Always loved "Schaulkeldren". Listened to the album in a store once and decided not to lay down hard cash for it - it's only on vinyl isn't it?

no, it's vinyl/cd/mp3. his label has a blog: http://karmarouge.typepad.com/weblog/ - looks like there are some good freebies there.

Yeah I do like him..
Haven't heard any albums, but I like the stuff he put out on Iron Box music.

Did anybody see him at Fabric last weekend?? I am gutted to have missed it :/

If it WAS last weekend.. but I think it was

Tracer Hand, Wednesday, 2 May 2007 10:31 (nineteen years ago)

Yeah, a few of us were there. I didn't see much of it because he seemed to be playing mostly Bambusbeats stuff and the album has steadfastly refused to grow on me. Plus he was playing at the same time as Ame, who was fantastic.

The Lex is the man to ask here though.

my memory is not all that but what i do remember was AMAZING - i also remember matt being there? but then i think i got v confused at one point as to who was playing where/when, who was with me, who i was, that sort of thing
