told him he should've had a sit-down with trent reznor.

Exactly what I was going to post!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 16 August 2005 14:07 (twenty years ago)

Good interview. I do want to hear new Scrappy material.

deej.., Tuesday, 16 August 2005 14:13 (twenty years ago)

I believe Trent Reznor said the same thing about fifteen years ago.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Tuesday, 16 August 2005 16:21 (twenty years ago)

I eagerly anticipate Lil Jon's Broken!

latebloomer (latebloomer), Tuesday, 16 August 2005 17:22 (twenty years ago)

not surprising at all, I've heard all kinds of stuff about TVT blocking records Lil Jon did with artists on other labels. Joe Budden was gonna be on the "Get Low" remix instead of Busta but there was TVT/Def Jam friction, and N.O.R.E. just had to change his lead single because TVT wouldn't clear the song he did w/ Lil Jon and Ashanti.

Al (sitcom), Tuesday, 16 August 2005 20:08 (twenty years ago)

i agree, tvt is a bunch of bitches. at least their publicity department are.

s>c>, Tuesday, 16 August 2005 23:04 (twenty years ago)

They do like to inundate a non-reviewing reviewer with promos though, for which they DO deserve props.

deej.., Wednesday, 17 August 2005 07:00 (twenty years ago)

TVT is a promosexual's wet dream.

Too bad they release such utter shit!

Brooker Buckingham (Brooker B), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 16:01 (twenty years ago)

two years pass...

Creditors hate TVT; Steve Gottlieb perpetrates one last asshole move.

Lil Jon & The Eastside Boyz, Pitbull, Ying Yang Twins, The Polyphonic Spree and others

The Reverend, Tuesday, 19 February 2008 05:22 (eighteen years ago)

not surprised at all. i was just saying something recently (in reference to Pitbull's 2nd underpromoted flop in a row) about how Koch is in a position to stay the big indie hip hop powerhouse TVT was a few years ago, because they keep snapping up established artists, whereas TVT just rode the whole Lil Jon/crunk wave for years and years, and did great when it was popular but didn't really have anything else ready to move onto when crunk went away.

Alex in Baltimore, Tuesday, 19 February 2008 05:44 (eighteen years ago)

I wonder what Pitbull's doing that other artists don't even know how to do.

da croupier, Tuesday, 19 February 2008 07:04 (eighteen years ago)

Eat pussy?

The Reverend, Tuesday, 19 February 2008 07:11 (eighteen years ago)

The Reverend, Tuesday, 19 February 2008 07:26 (eighteen years ago)

nin.com : "Not ALL news about the music industry is bad these days."

StanM, Tuesday, 19 February 2008 08:59 (eighteen years ago)

Hahah, I thought you were kidding! Hilarious.

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 19 February 2008 13:51 (eighteen years ago)

The label’s first success was the popular eight-volume Television’s Greatest Hits collection, which chronicled various TV theme songs.

jhøshea, Tuesday, 19 February 2008 14:06 (eighteen years ago)

what's the deal with this guy... horror stories?

s1ocki, Tuesday, 19 February 2008 17:21 (eighteen years ago)

Tons and tons. The NIN-Gottlieb wars were the first I heard of them back in 1992 or so and every time I heard someone new had joined the label I figured that they were going to eventually complain about him. And I was right.

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 19 February 2008 17:25 (eighteen years ago)

This NY Times 'correction' from a few years ago makes for amusing reading.

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 19 February 2008 17:26 (eighteen years ago)

that's some correction!

s1ocki, Tuesday, 19 February 2008 17:30 (eighteen years ago)

what's the deal with this guy... horror stories?

nothing but...
