don't know if was on here before, but somehow the track made it to my harddrive.

In any case... uh, it's, um, croaky.

patita (patita), Tuesday, 16 August 2005 16:36 (twenty years ago)

i cringe at the thought, but i'm sure i'll end up downloading this anyway.

s/c (Jody Beth Rosen), Tuesday, 16 August 2005 16:37 (twenty years ago)

I want my pretty mind back.

The Ghost of Black Elegance (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 16 August 2005 16:39 (twenty years ago)

I downloaded this a few week's ago. After a few listens I realized that this is one of the shittiest examples of "tuvan throat singing", it sounds more like that annoying throat gurgle thing from The Grudge than proper kargyra.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 16 August 2005 16:43 (twenty years ago)

OTM

Fetchboy (Felcher), Tuesday, 16 August 2005 16:45 (twenty years ago)

think there was a thread abt but this before - been too scared to check this out but Yat-Kha are a pretty astounding group

H (Heruy), Tuesday, 16 August 2005 17:04 (twenty years ago)

This is hilarious. It sounds like Shane MacGowan singing over a toilet trying to throw up.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 16 August 2005 17:07 (twenty years ago)

I'd be more interested in hearing "Love Will Keep Us Together"

b'angelo, Tuesday, 16 August 2005 18:29 (twenty years ago)

Is that Clarence "Frogman" Henry?

Yeah, Anthony E. started a thread about it already.

My boss loves this.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 16 August 2005 21:55 (twenty years ago)

I think it's beautiful.

Hurting (Hurting), Tuesday, 16 August 2005 22:01 (twenty years ago)

The Bose subwoofer division???

The Ghost of Black Elegance (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 16 August 2005 22:02 (twenty years ago)

This is cheesy but Yat-Kha are great. Those who haven't heard them before - please don't discount them on the evidence of this one!

joseph cotten (joseph cotten), Tuesday, 16 August 2005 22:16 (twenty years ago)

They've changed the last chord of the verse sequence in a really dumb way. It makes the whole thing sound jaunty. When your vocal is grumbly throat-singing, jaunty is maybe not the best backdrop.

nabiscothingy, Tuesday, 16 August 2005 23:29 (twenty years ago)

oh my, this is both wonderful and terrible at the same time.

Christopher Costello (CGC), Tuesday, 16 August 2005 23:34 (twenty years ago)

I just have mental images of Jimbo and Ned in a recording studio that won't go away

The Ghost of Black Elegance (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 16 August 2005 23:35 (twenty years ago)

Ken: At a NYC club that would love to book yat-kha.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 16 August 2005 23:45 (twenty years ago)

Forks: you do? A friend of mine, a Russian promoter, brought them to NYC several years back. They played MAKOR, of all places (apologies if your plays of employ is indeed Makor). I could get you in touch with him.

joseph cotten (joseph cotten), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 01:21 (twenty years ago)

"plays"="place". sometimes i disgust myself

joseph cotten (joseph cotten), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 01:22 (twenty years ago)

This throat singer should duet with Marissa.

The Ghost of Black Elegance (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 02:20 (twenty years ago)

very menacing!

Grell (Grell), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 02:48 (twenty years ago)

Joseph, drop me a line if you like. When I say that it's a club that would love to book them, I'm extrapolating a little; I can't imagine we have the funds ready to pay their airfare... but who knows! In any case, I'D love to see them in the club and it's the kind of place where they'd blend right in.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 02:59 (twenty years ago)

sounds like a muppet.

Andrzej B. (Andrzej B.), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 08:02 (twenty years ago)

I've heard Yat-kha before too, and as Nickalicious said, the song doesn't really display their real throat-singing skills, which are amazing.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 08:14 (twenty years ago)

one year passes...
can someone re-upload this??

Curt1s Stephens, Thursday, 19 April 2007 05:10 (nineteen years ago)

I think it's still on the Yat-Kha website somewhere if you look around

btw I lent Yenisei Punk to my dad and he loves it

bernard snowy, Thursday, 19 April 2007 05:29 (nineteen years ago)
