Which novelty tune rules the burbly, splishy clamshell-shaped throne of rock and roll?

The good people of ILM will prolly side with the B52s on this one, but I can't help loving Ringo's vocals on Octopus Garden. I go with Beatles.

I choose Psychoalphadiscobetabioaquadooloop.

In what bizarro universe could "Octopus' Garden" be considered a jam?

The Ghost of Black Elegance (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 16 August 2005 16:18 (twenty years ago)

"Rock Lobster" and chips for me too pleeze.

But I'd rather have "The Mutant Gillman".

Prince Namor, i.e. the Submariner had a good theme song on the old Marvel Comics cartoon show.

"Stronger than a whale
He can swim anywhere
He can breathe under water
and go flying through the air
The Noble Sub Mariner
Prince of the deep
So, beware you deadly demons
Lord Namor of Atlantis,
is the PRINCE OF THE DEEEEEEP!"

Drexciya's whole catalogue owns this thread, basically.

Actually, my pick is "Oceania".

Maybe I told this story here before but several years back a friend of mine's band was opening for the B52s and one of his bandmates wandered into an empty hotel conference room where there was some kind of buffet set up. He looked around, didn't see anybody and then had started to reach his hand out to the cold cut tray when he heard the unmistakeable nasal voice of Fred S say: "Hey, get away from that salami!"

OMG that sounds like the narrative to a B-52s song!

"Rock Lobster", pas question. It makes Peter Griffin happy.

Does Swell Maps' "Midget Submarines" qualify as an underwater jam? Or is the title just a euphemism for something else?
