For example...what comes first

the return of 80s drugs (more coke use)?

return of 80s inspired music retreads?

or 80s threads?

The twenty-year nostalgia formula leads everything. In the 70s, there was all this 50s stuff...American Graffiti, Happy Days, etc. In the 80s, you had your 60s revivalism, Grateful Dead stadium tours, etc. 90s were all about the 70s, and now we're smack dab in the 80s. In about ten years people will start rediscovering Pearl Jam and wearing flannel.

What will people do in the 2020s? Watch reality tv and protest George Bush?

Yeah, but I've been seeing 80s nostalgia since 1994. It hasn't let up.

80s brought back in the 90s, we already brought back the 90s, which had little to begin with, we've already hit an end. we cant retro a decade that was nothing but retro. when you recycle you also reduce, if there is no new material to draw on you just become nothing. what a time to be alive!

Why are people so intent on retro trends?
