Does anyone have either of 60s psych band Index's two albums on .mp3?

Does anyone have the music of Index? I found it on Soulseek last week right before my power went off for 48 hours and cannot find it again. Also, does anyone know if their records were reissued on CD or where I can find them? Thanks!

I think there might have been a CD w/ both albums some time ago.

Their version of "Eight Miles High" is enjoyably craptastic.

Jimmy, is your Slsk username the same as for ILM?

I have one of them on mp3, I think it's self-titled, goes for like $2000 on Ebay or something, but it's burnt on CDR somewhere. I'll dig it up tomorrow if you're stuck for it.

I didn't know they did more than one album! The only reissue I know of was on Voxx records some time in the 80s and is also OOP.

same as the first part of my email address

I figured the CD would be OOP, but I'm still interested in finding a copy. This search was restarted after seeing the vinyl reissue in the record store of the movie High Fidelity.

I think the Voxx reissue would have been vinyl only. I have no idea when/what label it was reissued on CD. I'd love to get it too though!

I love the song "Fire Eyes".

two years pass...

I've seen this on eBay, and I'm curious as hell. Is this as good as it looks?? The prospect of the Eigh Miles High cover has me drooling...

the first index album is really good. not quite bachs good, but very very good.

also the new reissue is done by the band & has been done properly

electricsound, Thursday, 29 November 2007 11:28 (eighteen years ago)

Is that the Valord reissue? The Voxx one costs ridiculous amounts whenever I see it online, even though the sound quality is supposed to suck, and it doesn't have the original artwork.

Michael Dudikoff presents Action Adventure Theatre, Thursday, 29 November 2007 11:43 (eighteen years ago)

i'd rate it higher than the bachs, but then the bachs only have a few good songs to my ears. where's this reissue available?! i missed getting a copy of the voxx one about seven years ago for ten bucks (it haunts me to this day).

Karl Ikola has two copies on ebay. Forty bucks.

Michael Dudikoff presents Action Adventure Theatre, Thursday, 29 November 2007 14:20 (eighteen years ago)

that's for the NEW reissue?

GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ, Thursday, 29 November 2007 15:28 (eighteen years ago)

Supposedly, yeah. I don't know when it came out, but that's pretty damn pricey, regardless... even for someone in the UK!

the voxx one sounds like crap. $40 is a lot but it's a great album

the bachs is probably the one stupidly expensive lp that i would pay the going rate for.. if i had the $

electricsound, Thursday, 29 November 2007 22:49 (eighteen years ago)

i've got the gear fab reissue of the bachs, i'm cheap as hell but that's how i roll. cheaply.

man, $40 is almost worth it for a copy of that album though.

GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ, Friday, 30 November 2007 05:39 (eighteen years ago)

haha the irony is that my copy of the bachs is a cdr rip of an OG that i got for free (i haven't heard the gear fab reissue)

electricsound, Friday, 30 November 2007 05:42 (eighteen years ago)

honestly, your cdr probably sounds better. i've only been disappointed in sound quality with a couple of their releases, that being one and stack above all is the other (how the hell does a bootleg sound better than a legitimate, band-endorsed reissue, yo?).

GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ, Friday, 30 November 2007 05:52 (eighteen years ago)

(how the hell does a bootleg sound better than a legitimate, band-endorsed reissue, yo?)

noise reduction in the hands of the indifferent and the amateur is eeeeevil

electricsound, Friday, 30 November 2007 05:59 (eighteen years ago)

i don't even know that it's noise reduction, at least in the case of stack. it just sounds like it was EQd by someone looking to simulate the hearing of a person with a really bad cold.

the holy ghost reception committee cd i have, THAT has some seriously awful noise reduction problems.

GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ, Friday, 30 November 2007 06:02 (eighteen years ago)

i remember in philly when you couldn't give the bachs or index reissues away. the vinyl ones. they had copies at the record exchange and at 9th street for YEARS. like, literally years. i guess the 3 people who wanted them bought them and that was that.

scott seward, Friday, 30 November 2007 06:09 (eighteen years ago)

i always suspected the philly rec-ex bought 500 copies of everything. but maybe philly dudes are just dicks who don't take chances on killer reissues. so much stuff i bought there (in the pre-mp3 explosion era) based on the killer cover art or band name, the mops, erkin koray, sainte anthony's fyre, i think love live life + one bootleg... psych comps... just bought the j.d. emmanuel wizards album there. the guy behind the counter was downloading and playing shit from mutant sounds the whole time we were there, i'm sure that says something...
