TS: The Cars' "Drive" vs Ric Ocasek's "Emotion in Motion"

Ric Ocasek's only solo hit strikes me as an improved rewrite of the Cars' biggest hit. The guitars twinkle nicely (one of which is played by Roland Orzabal!), the synths are warm and billowy (there's one great solo) without descending into "Drive"'s gunk.

On the other hand, both videos suck. Depends on your tolerance for the Ric-as-Prince-Charming-in-an-enchanted-forest scenario in which Ocasek stars in "Emotion in Motion", or on your tolerance for footage of starving Ethiopians juxtaposed over a morose love song.

one year passes...

"Drive" is a great song. I actually don't know "Emotion in Motion" and I suspect that it isn't played on radio much, correct?

It's heard in supermarkets across the land.

It's also in no way, shape or form better than "Drive".
