Fakes, or are BoC the easiest to fake band in the world?

So the new Vashti Bunyan record is out there, I highly anticipated that one, I love it already and know for a fact it's no fake. Why? Uhmm just listen to that voice. That's all there is to it.
Boards of Canada on the other hand seems to be the easiest band to fake, since with every fake release there's the this-is-the-real-deal'ers who - while being fan of BoC - enjoy the fake release.

Is life unfair because BoC fans are easily pleased? Which other bands do you think are incredibly easy to fake a new release of? Also, should there be a Grammy for Best Fake Release?

So this isn't about Blue Oyster Cult.

If you add two dots on the o, and if they're easy to fake, I see no reason why this thread shouldn't be about BöC.

how hard would it be to fake an indie hip hop release? or an emo balladeer? or both at once?

Indeed. I was waiting for the first response to be a longass post from George S. expounding on the finer points of 70s hard rock for the know-nothings.

The Broads of Canada are much more distinctive.

on a smaller scale, New Order have been faked a fair amount. Mostly instrumentals, but before Get Ready and WFTSC there were several tracks incorrectly labelled as being a new or unreleased New Order song.

I'm extremely tempted to start a thread with this title.

Haha, well I'm the one who said they are the easiest band to fake over on the BOC anticipation thread. It was of course a joke -- Merzbow for one would be a little easier to fake. If you play around with music software though it's pretty easy to accidentally make the beginnings of a boc track.

This isn't a bad thing though and in fact it kind of means they're classic. Think of all of the teenage garage bands who easily made fake Stones tracks in the '60s.
