Pakistani Grunge/Metal

Is there some kind of 90s hard rock trend in Pakistan?

The other day I was in the laundromat, and the TV had some kind of Pakistani-American channel, and the show was called something like "The Main Show Battle of the Bands." The volume was a bit low so I didn't get a really good listen, but what I mostly saw was tight, polished band after tight polished band doing this sort of hybrid of Alice in Chains and 80s hair metal, and every song opened with a killer shredding guitar solo.

Just wondering if this sort of thing is really big in Pakistan right now.

i mean you can go to any third-world country and if you don't speak the native language you can lift up your hands in a devil horns sign and bang your head and instantly have some new friends. it's like the esperanto of music.
