Classic!

The cheesy 're-enactments'= even classic-er!

yeah, that theme, the creepy stand-up segments(always in an empty alleyway, or studio), and the ghost stuff freaked the fuck out of 12-year-old me.

tho it was fun to see this used for comedic effect in "BASEketball" 7 years ago.

The original Rinder & Lewis theme for "In Search Of..." - and the incidental music they did for the series - was also creepy analog goodness. Boards Of Canada must've watched those shows as kids.

CLASSIC. This was my favourite TV show for about three years from 1986-1988. Creepy? Words don't describe it.

I very clearly remember the first episode I saw (I think it was one of the first they made) -- 1985 (IIRC), and it was about the Unabomber.

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Saturday, 27 August 2005 22:50 (twenty years ago)

Reruns of this are playing at the laundromat almost every time I go there. The only thing better than the reenactments are the wildly outdated "UPDATES" - was every criminal driving a Trans Am in 1988, or does it just seem like that in retrospect?

dude its a good show to sit down and watch and get a good laugh from

Joker, Saturday, 27 August 2005 23:59 (twenty years ago)

the show premired in 1988.

startrekman, Sunday, 28 August 2005 00:03 (twenty years ago)

Are you sure about that? Hate to be a nerdy nitpicker, but I watched the show in the 70's and these guys say it premiered in 1976.

three years pass...

Out on DVD, divided into "themes" ("Bizarre Murders," "Psychics," "Ghosts," etc). The really hot young actor in the "Texas Serial Killer" episode (shot in '92) is none other than an actor named Matthew McConaughey.

I had no idea about the mysterious death of journalist Danny Casolara in '91, and his work on the connections of the INSLAW computer program to Contra funding, BCCI, and the Dept of Justice. Noted Reagan friend Robert Stack didn't bat an eyelash.

It's too scary.. I can't listen to it.

Here's a decent book about Casolaro. Co-author Jim Keith would later die under bizarre circumstances.
