Class Songs

Did your graduating classes in schools ever have class songs? Mine for 8th grade was that "Don't You Forget About Me Song". I wager Green Day's "Time of Your Lives" was popular for this.

I was hoping this thread was going to be about songs along the lines of "Working Class Hero"

Wait, did any school really use "Time of your Lives"??? It's supposed to be ironic! (Dontcha think?)

In 8th grade it was The Greatest Love of All because the children really are the future. In high school, there was a vote, and Turn, Turn, Turn won. Then some people started a petition against it and we got stuck with Let the River Run. Retards.

REM - It's the End of the World As We Know It

A little strange considering I graduated a full decade after Document. In any event, solid choice by whomever was doing the choosing. God knows it could have been much, much worse.

Smashing Pumpkins "Today"
Blue Rodeo "Hasn't Hit Me Yet"

are the only two examples I know of firsthand.

Grade school graduation: Boyz II Men - "It's So Hard to Say Good-Bye"

High school: didn't have a song at the graduation ceremony, but there was a class video thingee that was soundtracked to Springsteen's "Blood Brothers" (uh, it was an all guy's school...)

"Today"! I love how people never bother to listen past the first line, a la "The One I Love." Doesn't Corgan proceed to wail about gouging his eyes out?

I only have one year of American high school under my belt and didn't even bother graduating (since I'd graduated with better grades in Latvia), but I recall the class song being 10,000 Maniacs' "These Are [The?] Days."

I'm currently in my final year at High School and was looking for songs to play at our Graduation, we have a list put up with suggestions from various students... Some idiot put Strawberry Kisses by Nikki Webster (Must find them and kill them). Anyway my mates and I came up with Oasis - Wonderwall. And for an ironic song we came up with REM - Losing My Religion (We're a catholic school but we're all very reform). When I saw Whalesound had REM - It's The End Of The Wall I thought Losing My Religion would be hitting the nail on the head. I'll be writing it up on the list tomorrow.

Yah.............My class wants to use photograph by NickelBack. If you don't know what the song is about then i will tell you. It is about a high school dropout wanting to go back. Hmmm. Yah.

"Good Riddance" was three classes before ours. "I Will Remember You" was two. Some Ataris song ("In this Diary" or something) was a year before us. We got "Our Lives" by the Calling.
