I will be the big guy with a suedehead, glasses and beard wearing a bamboo-leaf print shirt. I will probably also be carrying a man-box full of art supplies so's to sketch during the movie.

Holy shit that looks great!

I'm gonna plan on going to this.

Just got back - pretty good stuff, although if I was Anne Heller - the local musician who put this thing together - I might be a little concerned about copyright issues, since I'd seen a lot of the footage before in other videos.

I was about four rows from the back on a left hand aisle seat and sketched throughout the whole show with a keychain flashlight hanging out my shirt pocket so I could see what I was doing. I saw a bunch of the usual suspects, but no strangers tried to introduce themselves to me.

I also drank two Live Oak Pale Ales.

Sorry man I would've said hello if I'd have see you but it was pretty packed by the time I got in there.

robertw, Tuesday, 30 August 2005 04:16 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, I was surprised by the turnout. Good to see so many out there, though.

The Monday night music movies apparently are usually packed. I won't be missing the Krautrock movie in a few weeks.

I've only been to one before, a thing on Gil-Scott Heron and it was almost empty. I think that was right when the program was starting though. I guess word of mouth has improved things considerably.

three weeks pass...
METALMACHINEMUZIK: THE KRAUTROCK STORY
Born into both an economic miracle and a cultural wasteland, postwar German kids set about alchemising the 60's revolutionary spirit into sound and vision. Wildly radical then, highly influential now, Kraut Rock generally refers to German prog./art rock of the ‘70s, and includes bands like Can, Neu!, Cluster, Faust and synth-pop pioneers Kraftwerk.. Kraut Rock was more experimental than other Prog forms; it was deconstructionist, sometimes minimalist, and employed innovative electronic/synthesizer sounds and techniques. This in-house compilation looks at the bands, the trends and - most importantly - the music whose influence is ubiquitous today.
