Popfest! New England

Hello. There is this festival in Northampton, MA. You can find out all about it here:

This is not a spam thread because I am not responsible for the event. Should I drive 81.88 miles times 2 or not tax limited energy sources any further? But the Econo Lodge is completely booked. Is anyone else on ILM going?

I think I may be going saturday night; my friend's band the Specific Heats are playing and I hear they have an extra seat in their car.

My Teenage Stride was really really good. I have crushes on the girls from Shumai and the Smittens.

But I have to admit that "Reversal of a Red Bird" reminded me of "Pink Frost" then, and now I'm listening to it again and know that I wasn't just imagining it.

(platonic crushes)

i went to one popfest and realized though i may like the music i don't like the other things associated with it like say popfests.

i did have one of the organizers of it threaten to kick my ass if he ever saw me. that was funny.

keyth (keyth), Sunday, 2 October 2005 21:36 (twenty years ago)

yeah, i don't know that i like things associated with popfests.

it was because we didn't like the petticoats and i think he was in love with one of them. then he fell in love with my ex-girlfriend, allegedly.

What are some of the dislikable things associated with Popfests?

Were there many Smithies running about?

Mary (Mary), Monday, 3 October 2005 02:19 (twenty years ago)

(Smith students, that is, not Mancunian nostalgists.)

Mary (Mary), Monday, 3 October 2005 02:21 (twenty years ago)

A few Smith students, a few Smiths fans.
All in all it was quite fun - especially Saturday night.
Was anyone from this list there?

william, Monday, 3 October 2005 13:17 (twenty years ago)

I went to the Friday show. The bands were good.

Mary, I suppose it's their insularity that I don't like, which reinforces the insularity of the music, which I generally don't mind. But it was fun to watch people dancing to Unrest and other bands. Maybe I just wish I could do the same. I think you would like Northampton. The leaves haven't started to change color yet, so I think it would be ideal to go back in a couple of weeks.

youn.
i think most 'scenes' tend to be rather insular. popkids as a rule are pretty open and friendly. i wish that you approached me. i would have certainly introduced you to some people. as far as dancing, what was stopping you?
