Actually there is a plus to "Hoover", which is that for a little while you could buy alpha juno ones for like 35 quid and sell them on to djs for 150 quid.

alpha juno ones are still relatively dirt cheap and a great deal, esp. for struggling techno types. the chord memory = automatic detroit techno

personally, I am no fan of the hoover, except in Technarchy by Cybersonik.
