I will be in Barcelona on Oct 11th-20th.
These are my goals:
1. eat vegan food
2. dance wildly in a european mega club to minimal house.

Can anyone help me with either of these?
I just want to be someplace to see someone spin the new audion.
To let you know what I enjoy, Ill tell you my two summer musical highlights:
-alexander robotnik and marco massarani in detroit.
-monolake in the sculpture courtyard of Ps1, a branch of the MOMA

Oh, p.s.
Im going to be in Parma Italy after that, so any tips about the northern italy area would be awesome too...

Donnacha Costello + DJ Fra (Ferenc) at Nitsa on the 15th maybe.

Good Dog (Good Dog), Friday, 30 September 2005 11:32 (twenty years ago)

there is (or at least, there was) a lovely vegetarian restaurant in barcelona that is listed in the "rough guide".

thank you!
i was ignorant and assumed travelling to barcelona would be easier than other european cities (paris for example) because i could use my extremely minimal knowledge of latin america spanish. haha. we will see how it goes...

emma cleveland (emma cleveland), Friday, 30 September 2005 22:54 (twenty years ago)

I managed extremely well with zero knowledge of Spanish. Amazing, beautiful city.

Moog might be a good bet (http://www.masimas.com/moog/) if you don't mind tiny clubs.

Language is the least thing to worry about! Losing your mind and heart to Barcelona is more like it.

Although do be careful around the Ramblas late at night, get taxis home if you can (and are a tourist in a state) otherwise like everywhere just excercise common sense.

fandango (fandango), Friday, 30 September 2005 23:15 (twenty years ago)

that sounds nice. i live in rural western virginia, and i crave complete decadent packed clubs. if i was me at 16 and i caught myself saying that, i would have perished.

its true though. i can admit it now. i love disco.

Check Phi1ip Sh3rbourn3's blog -- he lives there now!

very comprehensive and up-to-date

manuel (manuel), Saturday, 1 October 2005 01:42 (twenty years ago)

mind, why did you bother googleproofing me? you knew i would read this thread! :)

anyway i already responded to emma but i'm happy to repost if anyone cares. key venues:

moog (mentioned above; i play there occasionally)

zentraus (i'm playing there tonight!)

nitsa

razzmatazz/loft/lolita

plus clubbing spain (see above) and le cool (very flavorpill-like) for other resources...

and there are occasional after-parties on the beach out by marbella, etc., and more festivals than you can shake a stick at, all year round. DJ 2D2, prefuse 73's DJs, plays around town a lot as well, often at fon fone (or at least he used to). and you can see fun local DJs playing everything from minimal to electro-trash at dot and a million other clubs i can't think of right now.

Ha, it wasn't googleproofed against you, but against random googlers, i.e. TEH TECHNO RIFF-RAFF :)

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Saturday, 1 October 2005 16:13 (twenty years ago)

whoa, philip has raging masses of intent fans who google his name to find out the latest hype.

emma cleveland (emma cleveland), Saturday, 1 October 2005 16:29 (twenty years ago)

all the makineros and bakaleros are always reading my blog, trying to see what's going to be big at creamfields andalucia next year. it's true.

philip sherburne (philip sherburne), Saturday, 1 October 2005 16:31 (twenty years ago)

philip sherburne (philip sherburne), Saturday, 1 October 2005 16:32 (twenty years ago)

emma cleveland (emma cleveland), Saturday, 1 October 2005 16:35 (twenty years ago)

oh, by coincidence my minimal techno mentor played me some Donnacha Costello record last night. sooo good.

emma cleveland (emma cleveland), Saturday, 1 October 2005 16:37 (twenty years ago)

Is there a place where I can apply to become a minimal techno mentor? I think that would be a good career for me.

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Saturday, 1 October 2005 16:48 (twenty years ago)

im his 70's psych mentor. its a trade.

emma cleveland (emma cleveland), Saturday, 1 October 2005 16:58 (twenty years ago)

on the vegetarian restaurants topic -due that philip 'quepaquepaquepachaneng' sherburne has given the clues to the clubs; this week in particular Nitsa is the key place as Donnacha is playing live again; AND HE'S AMAZING, he syncronizes his laptop with a 808 drum machine and overplays Richie Hawtin in its own game-, I might suggest a good and CHEAP one: Juicy Jones.

http://www.vegdining.com/GetRest.cfm?rk=SPA-BARC-JUICY

it's totally vegan, small, nice, and it's not expensive at all (two people can have a good meal for less than 10 euros each, wich makes like 7 dollars). near Ramblas, near the clubs. there are others (like L'Hortet), but I haven't tried, 'cos I'm not vegetarian, but when I have to go to a veg one, I go to this.

and let me tell you something: my friend philip is a fistro de la pradera.

javier, Saturday, 1 October 2005 21:13 (twenty years ago)

Javier ???? Are you Javier Blanquez???

nocure, Saturday, 1 October 2005 21:24 (twenty years ago)

javier, Saturday, 1 October 2005 23:16 (twenty years ago)

aaah i totally second juicy jones

good place

manuel (manuel), Sunday, 2 October 2005 00:59 (twenty years ago)

Javier, what do you think of Santi Carrillo's edit on Dancedelux saying this is the last issue of the magazine because dance (electronic) music has nothing (new) to offer ???
I think this is (one of) the best moments for electronic music. Shouldn't he say instead that dancedelux has nothing to offer?

nocure, Sunday, 2 October 2005 10:26 (twenty years ago)

Consider it a funny joke... The new Dancedelux is like a humour issue to me. Music? I haven't found much music inside...

javier, Sunday, 2 October 2005 11:52 (twenty years ago)

;-)
so much going on nowadays in the techno music world ... and they seem unable to capture it ... Really, a joke.

nocure, Sunday, 2 October 2005 18:54 (twenty years ago)

Javier, keep psoting. You have a lot to say. BTW ... when will you start a blog?

nocure, Sunday, 2 October 2005 18:56 (twenty years ago)

psoting = posting
