That double CD retrospective is amazing.. definitely.

The companion CD that came out after it, Cornflakes, is great too - lots of good covers, dif versions, etc. For some reason they only made 50 copies -- I mean, I'm sure at least 75 people wanted it.

That's about 48 more copies than were made of the CD version of the first two Hypnolovewheel albums(?). Anyway, SELF-DEPRECATING NERD GUITAR INDIE POP HURRAY!

I've been listening to Thomas Jef. Slave Appts., The Embarrassment, and Icky Boyfriends lately... so the thread is greatly timed.

Classic, but not nearly as classic as Boys From Nowhere. Best Columbus band of that period--of any period, really--by miles.

You can get that Cornflakes comp on e-music, by the way.

Ron House, always under-appreciated and under-estimated.

I have an Atavistic video compilation called "Mouth Full of Sweat" that I picked up because Cop Shoot Cop were on it, but the band that immediately follows CSC's performance of "Shine On, Elizabeth" is a band called Great Plains. The footage is of them playing at some outdoor festival, and a drunk guy in front of them does an amazing, idiotic dance before collapsing in a heap --- is this the same band?

seven years pass...

wow, Ron House fronts a psych band now

called PSANDWICH (eyeroll)

their album (Northren Psych) sounds good though. the things I learn from Bull Tongue. one of many reasons to like Arthur.

Northern Psych came out in 2011 and is totally worth tracking down.

^ i love this song! always thought that inspiral carpets nicked their sound from them

which is a bit of a stretch in hindsight and obviously more of a shared influences thing but just as the great plains were fizzling out, inspiral carpets start raking in the madchester millions
