100% Bandwagonesque

John Cocktolstoy (John Cocktolstoy), Sunday, 16 October 2005 01:03 (twenty years ago)

Girlfriend > Bandwagonesque > 100% Fun

At least, that's how I remember it. I haven't listened to any of these since god knows when.

gypsy mothra (gypsy mothra), Sunday, 16 October 2005 01:21 (twenty years ago)

I have bought every single one of these records used for under $5 at the local store. Of them, I listen to 100% Fun by far the most. So, 100% Fun.

Guayaquil (eephus), Sunday, 16 October 2005 02:00 (twenty years ago)

Bandwagonesque and to me it is not even close.

Earl Nash (earlnash), Sunday, 16 October 2005 03:12 (twenty years ago)

Bandwagonesque. Again, not even close.

casey (t. fiend), Sunday, 16 October 2005 03:33 (twenty years ago)

Bandwagonesque by a mile. I really enjoyed 100% but haven't played it in the longest time.

BeeOK (boo radley), Sunday, 16 October 2005 03:36 (twenty years ago)

Bandwagonesque

Cunga (Cunga), Sunday, 16 October 2005 03:48 (twenty years ago)

No contest - Bandwagonesque!

Niall, Sunday, 16 October 2005 08:31 (twenty years ago)

Bandwagonesque.

If Matthew Sweet was a band with 3 good songwriters he might have had a chance.

This thread is sexist to GURLS.

Gypsy Mothra beat me to it, but Girlfriend is LIGHTYEARS better than 100% Fun. And just about anything is better than Teenage Fanclub, including a lukewarm cup of soup and a tepid cucumber sandwhich on year-old bread.

Ouch Alex! That's harsh!

pitting 100% fun against bandwagonesque is like letting a baby die without being christened. better battle would have been girlfriend vs bandwagonesque.

maria tessa sciarrino (theoreticalgirl), Sunday, 16 October 2005 18:08 (twenty years ago)

a catholic education, bandwagonesque and howdy are all better than a lukewarm cup of soup, let alone a cucumber sandwich on year-old bread.

and all three are better than 100% fun, which is good enough, but really i only ever revisit for "sick of myself"

I heard 100% Fun for the first time in years not too long ago; great first half, so-so second half.

Teenage Fanclub would be a better band had Robert Quine and Richard Lloyd been its guitarists.

Alfred Soto (Alfred Soto), Sunday, 16 October 2005 20:20 (twenty years ago)

is it just me, or do these ultimate battle threads suck?

Christopher Costello (CGC), Sunday, 16 October 2005 22:15 (twenty years ago)

I wouldn't use Bandwagonesque a coaster, for fear of it contaminating my glass with its abject lameness.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 17 October 2005 00:24 (twenty years ago)

I would've used the "Girlfriend" album but I never heard it.

Or not.

I said 3 good songwriters.

Wub-Fur Internet Radio (wubfur), Monday, 17 October 2005 23:16 (twenty years ago)

ultimate battle? this is like lichtenstein vs. monaco.

mitya forgot his frigging password, Monday, 17 October 2005 23:35 (twenty years ago)

Bandwagonesque. Coaster, bah!

VegemiteGrrl (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 18 October 2005 05:48 (twenty years ago)

So this thread should have been the best album from Matthew Sweet vs. Teenage Fanclub.

Matthew Sweet’s Girlfriend is universally thought as the best from Matthew Sweet.

With Teenage Fanclub it’s a bit harder. With the music boards I have hung out with in the past it always seems like Grand Prix is considered the best from Teenage Fanclub with Bandwagonesque coming in second with the later fans saying they just don’t get it. Though both those albums are great, if you are talking the best than that would have to be Songs From Northern Britain but I’m never alone in that assessment. The songwriting on that album is impeccable, IMO, and Matthew Sweet isn’t even in the same class.

four years pass...

pitting 100% fun against bandwagonesque is like letting a baby die without being christened. better battle would have been girlfriend vs bandwagonesque.
