I just watched Resevior Dogs, and I would like to give Tarantino a big FU for ruining "Stuck in the Middle with You" for me.

You're kidding, right? I fell in love with that song AFTER seeing the scene.

I once had the misfortune to be forced to watch the final part of Sister Act, which absolutely trashed 'I will Follow Him' - one of my fave girl group songs (yeah i know Little Peggy March wasn't a girl group, but you know what i mean)..

Luckily through intense therapy I am now able to enjoy Peggy's version of the song again...

Shrek ruined "I'm a Believer" for me.

Joseph McCombs (Joseph McCombs), Sunday, 16 October 2005 14:12 (twenty years ago)

garden state pretty much made me lose interest in the shins.

and ruined every song i knew and liked before seeing the movie. except for such great heights as done by iron and wine==i liked that rendition more than the actual song

Nick Drake's "Northern Sky" used in the American version of "Fever Pitch" (which I was dragged to against my will to begin with).

I mean -- aarghh!

In Good Company used a bunch of Iron & Wine songs and dumped syrupy hollywood strings on top of the original recordings. it was awful

A bunch of you all need to get this t-shirt: http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/shopping/product/detailmain.jsp?itemID=9731&itemType=PRODUCT&iMainCat=163&iSubCat=172&iProductID=9731

Summary: "Everything you like I liked five years ago."

If you let a movie ruin a song for you then you've got issues. Take Jack's route and invest in some serious therapy

I'm surprised it actually took 3 answers before somebody said Garden State

Re: In Good Company, the soundtrack has my favorite Iron and Wine song on it (the luscious and epic The Trapeze Swinger) and since that is the only place it can be found (to my knowledge), that means it didn't ruin it for me.

Further reinforcing my opinion on Iron & Wine, I saw and enjoyed In Good Company but have absolutely no memory of there being music in it.

Eppy (Eppy), Monday, 17 October 2005 14:28 (twenty years ago)

hang on. how did 'garden state' "ruin" the godawful music contained therein? the music was the worst thing about the film.

Stealer's Wheel is also shit.

I can't hear "Sisters of Mercy" without laughing after seeing that weird film where it's the entire soundtrack (some Altman film, I think).

Hurting (Hurting), Monday, 17 October 2005 14:30 (twenty years ago)

northern sky was ruined for me in "serendipity"

bingo (Chris V), Monday, 17 October 2005 14:32 (twenty years ago)

'mccabe and mrs miller' xpost

N_RQ, Monday, 17 October 2005 14:33 (twenty years ago)

Yes, that's it.

The movie Ghostbusters TOTALLY ruined that Ray Parker Jr. song.

When I first heard "This Woman's Work," I had no idea of its relation to "She's Having a Baby" (the film). I thought it was just an absolultely exquisite piece of music that wasn't tied to any half-baked weepy Kevin Bacon flick. To this day, I try to block the connection.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 17 October 2005 18:56 (twenty years ago)

...oh, by Kate Bush, of course.
