I liked their old stuff better.

Why feel guilty about saying this, when you actually feel that way about someone's music? In my experrience, people usually don't say phrases lke this because they're trying to "appear hip" or whatever.

"Their first album was the best."

I've just heard this so many times, even when to me it's evidently not true, that's it's hard for me to take it seriously.

"evidently not true"

Wouldn't it be great if somebody brought out a Handbook of Hipsterism, so there was an authoritative reference to check these queries against?

Change every instance to avoid this problem.

Example:

Friend: Did you hear the new Oingo Boingo?

You: Oh yes!

Friend: What did you think?

You: Oingo Boingo?! I love 'em, especially the old stuff!

Friend: What did you think of the new album, though?

You: Meh. It's hard to compete with years of fond memories.

Friend: What does that mean?

You: I mean, you know. The old albums: years of fond memories.

Friend: So did you like it or what?

You: I'm not saying I did and I'm not saying I didn't.

Friend. Why? What the fuck is your problem right now?

You: Where you going, friend?

Friend: Nevermind.

You: Can I come?

Friend: Fuck off.

You: It's a dead man's party. Who could ask for more?

Friend: Ah, shut up.

I liked the first three posts on this thread. It's gone downhill around the first picture post.

"Why do less-talented debut albums and no-talent debut EPs always lessen the impact of fine sophomore efforts? And what does this have to do with jeeps/frats?"

I can't believe that I almost just confused Jamez Fuckin' Hetfield with David Bowie. Such a sleepy afternoon I'm having.
