My wife recently became the manager of a young nu-rock/metal quartet, and I want to buy her a book that will help her out. Any suggestions?

About 30 seconds after I wrote that post I realised the woman sitting behind me was Bill Drummond's ex-partner and mother of one of his kids. Small world.

I've not had the guts to ask myself yet! Although I have met him. I must tell you the story about when I found out she was his ex, it was fucking bizarre.

chad OTM!!! the eugene chadbourne book rules. it's not solid gold, but it's definitely strong stuff. recommended for anybody... even musicians, not just somebody running a band.

Jess - Aye, luckily when I met him he'd had a drink. It's mentioned on another thread - he did a book tour thing for How To Be An Artist and came to Exeter - everyone else there kidn ofm refused to talk back, which is obviously not what he was after, so I quite happily opened my gob and let shite tumble out. He probably thought I was an idiot.

I was sure I'd written about meeting his ex on ILM somewhere but can't find it - basically she's doing a PhD at the uni where I work, and also works occasional shifts in the same library, and she'd been coming in my department to chat to me and Billy for ages cos we were "cool". I knew she'd worked for MTV in the past but nothing more. Anyway, on my desk I have a plaster buddha, a plastic David Hirst (fat ex footballer), Mr Incredible and the South Park kids, and one day Sunie asked if they were the heroes of AV. I said yes, and added that I didn't think they made an action figure of the only other person we'd want one of, Bill Drummond. To which Sunie said "You're taking the piss?!" I had no idea wtf she meant so laughed and said "What are you on about" and she was just flabbergasted - "We MUST have talked about this, you ARE taking the piss?!" and Billy and I were both saying "No, we just really like Bill Drummond and The KLF; why do you know him?" at which point she kind of shouted "He's only the father of my fucking son!" It was bizarre, and not what you expect to be told in a library.

I'd had a drink, not Bill, sorry. Although maybe he had as well. I've still got some of the bits of card with our signatures on and bits of his Richard Long photo cut-up and Pritt-Sticked to it. I use them as bookmarks, when I can find them.
