"Madge-ic." That's not bad, that. I note the lack of authorial accreditation.

i.e. it's the press release recycled.

i like her red hair pink clothes combo! i really like hung up! im amazed to say that im looking forward to hearing this album, she's been so boring and so lame the last few years.

"hung up "mixed with abba "gimme a man after midnight" is brilliant.

retrogurl, Friday, 21 October 2005 06:08 (twenty years ago)

the abba sample is part of it tho isnt it? or is it not as good as i think it is

minna (minna), Friday, 21 October 2005 06:11 (twenty years ago)

This isn't just any journo, this is the queen of hacks, Victoria Newton. Seriously, Petridis is like Pulitzer-level compared to her.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Friday, 21 October 2005 06:21 (twenty years ago)

"I LOVE NEW YORK: Banging dance tune with lyrics featuring a pop at George Bush and his home state. She sings: “If you don’t like my attitude then you can just f off. Just go to Texas, that’s where they play golf.”

The chorus is: “Los Angeles is for those who sleep, Paris and London baby you can keep, No other city will make me dance like New York” 10 "

haha after reading this article....... im not so sure i want to hear the album after all

minna (minna), Friday, 21 October 2005 06:43 (twenty years ago)

"Quite clever to put out a wholly electronic album – and close it with an acoustic guitar."

??

minna (minna), Friday, 21 October 2005 06:43 (twenty years ago)

"She sings about Guy: “I owe it all to you, It’s because you push me, Keep on pushing like nobody.”"

gross

minna (minna), Friday, 21 October 2005 06:45 (twenty years ago)

"ISAAC: By far my favourite track — a stunning combination of wild rhythms, a hypnotic jewish chant and loads of strings and guitars. The ending is borrowed from Die Another Day. I defy anyone to not be blown away by this track. 11 "

... i bet this one is awesome. it will be like that anastacia song with the trip hop old man chanting in it

minna (minna), Friday, 21 October 2005 06:47 (twenty years ago)

JUMP: Features classic Madonna vocals and is reminiscent of Into The Groove. She sings: “The only thing you can depend on is your family.” 9

HOW HIGH: All about Madonna analysing and evaluating her fame and success. She sings: “It’s funny I spent my whole life wanting to be talked about, Was it all worth it? I guess I deserve it, How high are the stakes?” 10

crappy

whats with all the self-sampling?? apparantly there are nicked bits from 'die another day' and 'papa don't preach' all over it!

well she has her werk cut out making a better album than gwen, annie and rachel.

bring it on.

piscesboy, Friday, 21 October 2005 09:58 (twenty years ago)

it'll comfortably outsell annie and rachel put together (not difficult; even daniel o'donnell managed that with his "teenage dreams") but i'm not sure it'll overtake gwen.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Friday, 21 October 2005 09:59 (twenty years ago)

seriously, she shouldnt be sampling famous hits, at ALL

okokoko, Friday, 21 October 2005 10:49 (twenty years ago)

She's already self-referenced! She sings the outro of "Vogue" on the outro of "Deeper & Deeper".

Tantrum The Cat (Tantrum The Cat), Friday, 21 October 2005 13:42 (twenty years ago)

Oh yeah Palookaville was a return to form too.

What does the Daily Sport think?

The opening features Madonna saying “sorry” in lots of different languages. 10
WOO!

Huk-L (Huk-L), Friday, 21 October 2005 14:22 (twenty years ago)

The press playback was yesterday. Who could be bothered to go? The Sun.

The opening features Madonna saying “what the fuck do you think you're doing?” in lots of different languages. 10

Not trying to clever here, but what exactly does this mean, Marcello?

sleep (sleep), Friday, 21 October 2005 18:36 (twenty years ago)

I mean sure, equating "better" with "better sales" is not a foreign concept to me, but it's a weird transition to make without commenting. Is "better" interchangable with "outselling" to Madonna, to you, both, or neither?

sleep (sleep), Friday, 21 October 2005 18:39 (twenty years ago)

Who knows, but out-class? Sure.
