I was listening to their albums today. Where are they?

Seems they're sort of on-hiatus, or broken up? They got dropped by their label, but the article is sort of vague otherwise...

(and the Simian vs. Justice remix song is still the catchiest song of the last 10 years. A goddamned masterpiece, that one).

Last thing I heard was that great track "Pulse" under the name Simian Mobile Disco. I don't know what they are doing now. Bring 'em back!

sort of pathetic, more like. simian got nowhere because they had one good song; whether or not someone remixed them into decency is neither here nor there. i saw them play a couple of years ago with echoboy and hoboken in glasgow: they were dire. smug trendified bollocks of the first order. "la breeze" is reasonable, but i dug their album out the other week and it really is aimless arsery.

and as for that dobber mason, wanking on about coldplay: get a grip, you cunt. you weren't very good, that's all. you started well - "the three EPs" is mighty - and went massively downhill. christ almighty, coldplay and keane might be crap but their crapness doesn't stop your band being any good.

what a self-pitying wanker he is. fuck off and don't come back.

I like the first simian record

How is Simian's We Are Your Friends "aimless wankery"? If anything it's a collection of concise and often excellent songs. And their Mobile Disco mixes are stupendous. Why so much vitriol?

As far as I know, they still go on as Simian Mobile Disco, and their material under this name is very great... Last single I think was "Piggy In The Middle", maybe not as great as "Pulse" and "The Count" but a sign that a great album is on the way.

I don't know how Simian Mobile Disco is different from Simian, maybe only some members stay, etc.

I love Simian, both records are great. That bloke, who speaks about aimless wankery, should listen grime instead.

Simian Mobile Disco have got a remix of 'Circle Square Triangle' on the b-side of the Test Icicles single which comes out on Monday.

They were put together by management in the first place, with some success. Some of them are now Doloroso, who are doing alright.
I liked them myself.

simian split into (at least) 2 factions. on their website, it says they were dropped, but when La Breeze took off they were offered another deal (but declined).
now we have simian mobile disco and garden. http://www.intothegarden.co.uk/ has plenty of sounds from their album. sounds like simian, but without the weird electronic fx and such.

is grimly fiendish the new markelby??

RJG (RJG), Saturday, 22 October 2005 02:11 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, Garden is good, but I haven't heard Doloroso, do they have some leaked stuff?

zeus (zeus), Saturday, 22 October 2005 06:40 (twenty years ago)

That song with the chorus "I see the world in one dimension..." was bonza!
